About Tara Deliberto, Ph.D.

Tara L. Deliberto, PhD, is the first author of Treating Eating Disorders in Adolescents, a manual published by New Harbinger describing an innovative new treatment she developed called Integrative Modalities Therapy (IMT). This treatment steeped in evidence-based practice is aimed at helping clinicians, patients, and carers alike. Dr. Deliberto is an assistant professor at Weill Cornell Medicine, the medical college of Cornell University.  In 2016, Dr. Deliberto opened and directed New York–Presbyterian Hospital’s Eating Disorders Partial Hospitalization Program. In 2018, Dr. Deliberto stepped down from the director role to work part-time, in order to create and publish IMT. Two days per week, Dr. Deliberto now trains advanced doctoral and postdoctoral students in the eating disorders program she created. She also maintains volunteer leadership positions as the co-chair of the membership committee at the Academy for Eating Disorders and as an editor for the academic journal, Eating Disorders: The Journal of Treatment and Prevention.
