Tired of writing alone? Tired of getting stuck and not finishing a play? Or finishing a play and not knowing what to do with it? Are you paralyzed by the blank page? Do you want to learn about professional playwriting standards and be more engaged with the field of American theater? Do you want to find a community of playwrights to share your challenges, triumphs and questions with?

Join us and we'll help you get your work from the page to the stage.

How can I help? Because I did it all wrong. I didn't get a degree in playwriting. I didn't have the right connections or jobs. And I still ended up a nationally known, produced, and award-winning playwright.

For the 5% of playwrights who meet that magical mentor and write that mind-blowing script right out of a gate, a script which propels them to major commissions, great reviews, and literary stardom, that's awesome. But the reality is that 95% of successful playwrights work their way up, step by step, day by day, learning by trial and error. Let me help you skip some of the trials, fix some of the errors, and strengthen your art so that you can take your playwriting to the next level... and then on to wherever you want it to go.

I teach around the country, and currently teach undergraduate playwriting at the University of Pennsylvania and MFA Playwriting at Temple University. I was the Director of Education at PlayPenn, and also spent 8 years working in literary and artistic offices, so I know how theaters think about selecting shows for production. You can read more about my creative work at: www.jacquelinegoldfinger.com.

My philosophy: No one can teach you how to write the "perfect play" or the "best play." If they say that they can, then they are either deeply narcissistic or comically uninformed. Because there is no such thing as "best" or "perfect"; Art doesn't work that way. All we can do is give you an opportunity to learn and strengthen different creative tools and approaches - as well as expose you to new influences that might change the way you see your work and the world. Our goal is to support you in your journey along the path of plays which only you can write. -Jacqueline Goldfinger

I hope that you will join us to make 2019 The Year of the Playwright.

I want to provide the resource that I wish someone had curated for me as a playwright. A resource that is easy to access. A resource that is honest about both the art and industry of the theater, and one that helps me grow as an artist while becoming a more savvy art-maker so that I can get my work produced and published more frequently. I'm beginning with one eblast a month. If this becomes popular, I'll survey the community and see what additional information, tiers, etc would be useful to add.
