Hey there cats and kittens,

Another year comes and goes, and I still find myself chasing my heart around the world, singing its songs to people and hoping they resonate (the songs, not the people, though making an audience resonate sounds like a cool idea that the Flaming Lips might have put on in the late 90s). Despite my better judgement, I am continually compelled to create, to perform, to sing, to play, to sound my barbaric YAWP on as many stages as I'm able. I don't know where this drive comes from, any more than I know where the songs come from: they just come, and I must obey.

This is, as always, a fiscally questionable decision. The world is about as tough for original musicians as its ever been: on the plus side, the internet! I no longer need a label to pay to reach people. On the minus side, the internet! Everyone else can do the same thing, and moreover, lots of people have decided that they no longer want or need to pay for music, leaving those of us who MAKE the music scrambling to keep gas in the car and food in the bellies, to say nothing of housing costs and savings and all those middle-class amenities. And yet, music is everything! At least, it's the only thing that's ever totally made sense to me (and I even understand the infield fly rule, kinda!). So in order to stay afloat, I'm working extra shifts at my (death-to-the-spirit-by-1000-cuts) day job, and taking lots of (somewhat-more-lucrative-but-wholly-artistically-unfulfilling) cover gigs, both of which take time away from my ability to create new material, and/or to play gigs that showcase it, and/or to promote those gigs, and/or to make records to release it... Time is not often on my side.

Patreon is a new model, whereby you pledge an amount of money per month (anything from $1 on up) and you get exclusive content from me, as well as a direct pipeline from your lips (or, well, keyboard) to my ears (well, eyes). I'll be posting videos and audio of new tunes, old tunes, cover tunes, any kinda tunes, maybe some other content, who knows? Have a song of mine you haven't heard in awhile? Let me know, maybe I'll cut it for you. Song you've always wanted to hear me sing? Same deal, if I can work it out, I shall. Pledge as much or as little per month as you like: the idea isn't that YOU keep me afloat, but that you, and you, and you, and you over there, and him, and him, and her, and him, and her... that the COLLECTIVE "you" helps. If 100 of you pledge a dollar apiece, there's one artistically-uninspiring cover gig I can skip per month (or one extra soul-poisoning day job shift), and use the time to write or record, and so on.

So basically: there's gonna be some exclusive content here as often as I'm able to create it. The new economy for musicians is a bleak one; if it interests you to pledge some of your dollars in support of my craft, please do so! This will be the ONLY place most of these recordings will be released, so if you hear something and like it, share it with your friends!

Okay I love you!! Check out the tunes and pledge if you like!!
