Rachel I had a lot of fun pulling together playlists for different genre games, but I don't always remember to play them. Lord of Rings is our go-to sound track for dungeon delving (Castle Ravenloft, Descent, etc). I've also got a bunch of fun sea chanties for our pirate games. (Unfortunately, if the game is long and the playlist is short, the repetition can become tiresome for some.)

John Lord of the Rings is a classic. I like the idea of themed playlists.

Adam Reeve Pit is a game that went over great for that exact scenario during our last big game day. It was loud and crazy and got everyone revved up before we broke into smaller groups.

Rachel The more people the better for Tsuro (although 8 is the max). We've had fun playing Wits & Wagers Family with lots of folks by adding in more dry erase boards.

Do we have an ETA on the next hang out? I think it's been about 2 months.

The D6 Generation We're working on it, John. Trying to coordinate family schedules at the moment, but it should be in the next few weeks, with a little luck! Thanks for asking, though! It's nice to know someone cares. :) ~Craig

Current Favorite Filler Game

With this week's episode discussing filler games I thought I would share one that my family has really enjoyed. Are you guys familiar with Escape: The Curse of the Temple? Think Coop Dice Duel with an Indiana Jones theme and a 10 minute time limit. It's basically an adrenaline rush in a box.

The D6 Generation I've played it briefly and it was a blast. For some reason it doesn't show up a lot for us locally, but it is a good one!

Hugh Wyeth Is there much replayability what with the same soundtrack being used each game?

February 23, 2014 09:13:54 · Reply

John I don't really think the soundtrack affects replayability, but once you beat the game half a dozen times or so you do start to feel like you've solved the "puzzle" of the game, then it becomes a bit like Pandemic where difficulty is determined by tile draw and some games are quick and easy and some are tense and hard. Shuffling in new players does get the excitement factor back up though.

John When you were there last year, was there any board game stuff there or was it mostly Comics, books, and TV?

The D6 Generation I didn't really see any gaming. Admittedly, I was in the vendor hall the whole weekend, though, so I'm probably not the best source of info. However, there weren't really any game vendors either, so I don't think there was any real gaming presence, would be my gut reaction. ~Craig

Ray Greenley I'm interested in the 'First Law' Series discussion! But I've got tons to listen to at the moment, so no need to rush. ;^)

John No rush as I'll bet it takes a bit of effort to get everything transitioned over, but 22,32,35,37,43,58, and 61 all sound interesting.

The D6 Generation Ok, added 61, as I work back this week I'll focus on the others first.
