Hi there! Thanks so much for stopping by!

For those who know me, yes, this is the same Julie who typically writes and tweets about Asperger’s Syndrome. (Interested in Asperger's? Kindly head over to my blog or catch me on Twitter for anything Aspie!) You are more than welcome to hang out here with me, but do know we’re taking a huge left turn into new territory. And it will be uncomfortable, at times.

After a lot of thought I have decided to share my journey on being a "Fundagelical" (Evangelical fundamentalist Christian) and morphing into an ex-Fundamentalist, ex-Evangelical. This is a highly personal journey, highly controversial subject indeed. It is my goal to connect with others who are struggling, and to reassure those who have already left “the fold” that there is much life to be had outside those gates! Sometimes, the grass really is greener on the other side!

The content will range from emotional and quite serious to just plain goofy. There is a lot to cover and not all of it is a rant session. Some content will incur a trigger warning (TW) as we will discuss topics that may be sensitive for certain patrons. This content is raw and real, and I’m so very excited to share it with you!

To be clear (ahem, gotta give a disclaimer) opinions are my own. Much of the content comes from my own experiences and my own research. I am not a medical professional, so please take our chats like meeting for coffee, not a serious therapy session. In other words, take what works, leave the rest. Please seek out qualified professionals if you feel you need assistance with your personal situation.

Why all the disclaimer? Anyone coming out of a fundamentalist background has been conditioned to let others do the thinking for them, even if that only “other” is god. It is crucial to understand that this content is not an oracle of a priestess, but a fellow human working hard to help other humans along the way.

Interested in supporting my work? Through supporters here at Patreon I am able to focus full-time on writing, podcasting, and more, which means getting content out more regularly. Being a Patron of mine enables free content (blog, YouTube) to be accessible for those looking to heal from Fundamental Evangelicalism, but who do not have financial means to support this work. I take your investment in my work very seriously. But, yeah, you totally get extra podcasts and exclusive content when you sign up. :)

So, why have a paywall for this content at all, you ask? Why charge for content that can help others? As mentioned earlier, some of my content is free, indeed! I am adding a tab on my blog that will feature some of the content that shows up here, and you can always catch me over on twitter. And, let's be real for a moment. Talking about "leaving the fold" also "brings out the trolls." Trolls don’t like to pay tolls, so… yeah.

Talking about this is new territory for me and I'm excited you're sharing the journey! The goal is to help others as they work toward their own healing, as well as to enlighten others what it is like living as a fundagelical as well as what it's like to leave it all behind. It isn't easy, but for many of us, it's worth it.

All my best,

- Julie

TIER 1: Supporter
$1 or more per month
Like what you're seeing and want to try something more, but not ready to fully dive in?  Consider this level of support.

Here's what you'll get:

  • A taste of patron-only content, in blog format

This is a great level for anyone wanting to sample my journey or who are on a strict budget!

TIER 2: Blog-style post access
$3 or more per month
This tier opens up access to most of the topics we will discuss here. Tier 2, this tier, provides access to all of the content of Tier 1, plus access to most of the blog-style posts.

This is a great level for anyone who prefers reading over podcasts or videos!

(Some blog-style content is reserved for Tier 5 and higher.)

All levels help keep content fresh and forthcoming. Thank you!

TIER 3: Podcast access
$5 or more per month
Like Tier 2, this tier opens up access to most of the topics we will discuss here. Tier 3 provides access to all of the content of Tiers 1&2, plus access to most of the podcasts. (NOTE: Some content is reserved for Tier 5 and higher.)

Although some of the topics will overlap with blog-style content, podcasts often go a little deeper. Podcasts are also posted more frequently than blog posts.

This is a great level for anyone who prefers podcasts!

All levels help keep content fresh and forthcoming. Thank you!

TIER 4: Video access
$10 or more per month
Like Tiers 2&3, this tier opens up access to most of the topics we will discuss here. Tier 3 provides access to all of the content of Tiers 1-3, plus access to most videos. (NOTE: Some content is reserved for Tier 5 and higher.)

Although some of the topics will overlap with blog-style and podcast content, video content adds another dimension to our discussions.

As videos take more time and resources to create, they are posted less frequently. Therefore, consider this level as an "investor" level as proceeds from this level enable me to save up and purchase better recording and lighting equipment.

All levels help keep content fresh and forthcoming. Thank you!

TIER 5: Storyteller (Partner Level)
$25 or more per month
This tier opens up access to all of the content of Tiers 1-4. This tier is considered a Partner level.

There are two distinct bonuses at this level:

  • All Patrons are considered investors, but those at Tiers 5 and higher are considered “Partnership” levels. By selecting this level (or higher) you are indicating you wish to support the content provided here at a deeper level.
  • As a Partner, you have the opportunity to share your story* right here! All you need to do is contact me and we’ll take it from there. Most stories will be shared as a text post, i.e., Q&A blog-style, and will be available at lower levels so other Patrons can benefit from your personal experiences! (Yes, you may remain anonymous .)

Due to the opportunity to collect and share stories, this level is limited to 20 Patrons so everyone will have a fair opportunity to have their stories told.

*NOTE: As "creator," I reserve the right to decline stories that are not aligned with the spirit of our community. All stories will be vetted (and may be edited for length). In other words, explicit and other inappropriate content is not permitted. Stories aimed to proselytize (reconvert others, tell us we're "going to hell," etc.) are also off-limits.

(Geez did that end up sounding rather fussy, didn't it? *sigh* Didn't meant to come across that way.)

TIER 6: The Inner Sanctum (Partner)
$75 or more per month
This tier opens up access to all of the content of Tiers 1-5*. This tier is considered a Partner level.

The distinctions at this level include:

  • All Patrons are considered investors, but those at Tiers 5 and higher are considered “Partnership” levels. By selecting this level (or higher) you are indicating you wish to support the content provided here at a deeper level.
  • Access to exclusive content that delves deeper into my experiences as a "fundagelical."
  • The opportunity to ask me anything. (I'll be as open as I can be, but I do draw boundaries when necessary.)

Responsibilities at this level include:

  • Respect others who participate in the Inner Sanctum
  • Agree to keep all content in the Inner Sanctum private
  • Agree to be open to all sorts of discussion and keep our tone kind and beneficial to all (as much as we can come across via online, right?).
  • No proselytizing (this includes atheists, y'all)

*NOTE: Please refer to the note at Tier 5 re: "Storyteller" guidelines.

This level is limited to the frist 10 Patrons who choose it. After that, we will decide as a group if/when we will add another invitation to join, as well as how many spots to open.

Goals
0% complete
My first goal is to cover the costs of maintaining my website for one year. As it takes a while for new books to be published and available for sale, meeting this goal will allow me to continue to offer a free blog and information for those who need info on Asperger's and parenting re: the Autism Spectrum, as well as those leaving Evangelical fundamentalism, plus other odds and ends. Thank you!
