Welcome to Just Do It Afraid, a mentorship program offering 2 services for:

  • those with student loans who need consultation on how to manage their debt
  • young adults (YA) who need guidance as they transition into adulthood

After mentoring on an ad hoc basis for some time I, Dr. Linda Barthelus, decided to start an affordable mentorship program with my sisters on a broader scale.

Student Loan Consultation

Imagine having a student loan consultant on retainer. At the affordable rate of $15 per month, you can schedule one 30 minute meeting per month to discuss any concern regarding college financial aid including student loans. If you need a follow-up meeting, no problem!

This service focuses primarily on teaching how federal student aid (college financial aid) works, and the effective ways to personally manage student loan debt.  The consultations are one-on-one with me, Dr. Linda, via a confidential online chat thread.

I have professional experience as a:
  • college financial aid advisor
  • college admission counselor
  • college adjunct instructor
  • college administrator

Topics for discussion include:

  • understanding the financial aid process including verification
  • explanation of financial aid award letter
  • understanding the different types of student loans you are awarded
  • explanation of different repayment plans and choosing the one that works for you
  • how to consolidate multiple loans into one
  • what to do if unable to make student loan payments
  • how to get your student loans forgiven
  • how to get out of default
  • and everything else related to federal student aid

If you or a someone you know need help understanding college financial aid or managing your student loan debt, don't put it off.  Get the help needed now by signing up for this service.

Dedicated Coaching for Young Adults (YA)

Many YA we mentor feel uncertain, fearful and/or anxious about their future. They do not know what to study in college, have difficulty finding a job or getting ahead financially because they do not know how to budget their money.

Our primary purpose is to empower YA to proactively & successfully transition into adulthood. We do this by first providing video tutorials, interactive discussions and monthly wrap ups to ensure learning is effective. The video lessons will not be flashy but to the point with the content you need.

The lessons & discussions will center around a variety of life skills topics including:

1. Preparing for and starting college
2. Managing your paycheck
3. Finding and starting first real job
4. Student loan debt
5. Understanding & managing credit and debt
6. Renting first apartment & living with roommates, etc
7. Buying first vehicle
8. Being a responsible citizen (paying taxes, maintaining vehicle, laws, etc.)

The biggest plus is that you get to ask ALL THE QUESTIONS YOU WANT about different life challenges you face as you start life on your own.

So sign up and invite your family, friends, co-workers...whoever else you know can benefit from this affordable (only $5 bucks per month) mentorship program.

We look forward to walking with you on the journey to fulfill your purpose in life!
