Live Model Sessions

Drawing and painting from life is SO important for an artist. It forces the brain to analyze and process 3-dimensional visual information in a way that photographs don't quite achieve. I try to partake in a model session here in Seattle every week. While one session starts at only $10, that can add up fast if I do it often. With your help I can put my nose to the grindstone and pour all I have into these sessions.

Host Online Live Model Sessions!!!

Having previously lived in a place where I did not have access to drawing or painting a live model; I genuinely understand how great it is to have. Now that your awesome support has allowed me to purchase a killer camera in the previous goal, this new goal will help me hire a model every month to sit for myself and my patrons. Patrons will have access to the live feed and can paint, draw, sketch along during the session, or just join the fun, all for FREE!

Ol' Bessie has been a faithful companion but after years of trekking mountains and swamps she's starting to show her age. With your help I can purchase a newer camera to provide the best quality arty videos, and painting tutorials for my patrons.

My website is down. :( Through a vulnerability in Wordpress, shady characters were able to insert malware into my site. (Insert painfully long frustrating story here) So now I need a new website. This is one of the least pleasant activities that an artist gets to do. My previous site was nearly 400 pages in size. You can guess how much I am looking forward to this. THANKFULLY, my husband is a web developer and will serve as my knight in shining armor. There will still be some expenses in establishing my new site. Expenses (let alone time) that I had not budgeted for. With your help, though, I can put a dent in it. Yay Patreon!!! Thank you!

I would like to take my art on the road! With your help in achieving this goal I will submit my art to various exhibitions/art-shows/festivals in the US where my portraits will be exhibited, hopefully sell (YAY) and I can meet potential clients for commissioned work. This genre is definitely out of the norm for art shows/festivals. Typically landscapes and floral work is the safe bet for sales. But I after much soul searching, I **NEED** to paint people and this is a way for me to do that, and to connect with people who identify with such a cool genre. Most of these shows have entry fees and when you enter several, those add up real quick!

Originally from Oregon, artist Karen Whitworth has spent her entire life enjoying nature and its vast sources of artistic inspiration. At a young age her family moved to Alaska where her passion for the outdoors was nurtured and her drive to capture it through paint blossomed. For the next 20 years she painted the rugged landscapes and beautiful animals that resided there. Whether painting a landscape en plein air or a still life in her studio, a common thread of vibrantly illuminated subjects tie her work together beautifully. It is this light that has inspired her recent works and those to come. Her original paintings are exhibited across the U.S. and can be found in collections around the world. Karen now resides in Redmond, Washington with her husband and 2 young children.
