Hello, Lovelies!

❤ Thank you for checking out my Patreon page!

If you're here, you probably already know what's up! If you don't, keep reading, or check out this awesome video from the founders of the platform here.

Did You Know...

...that in opera, we have to pay a company to even so much as look at our resumé? Most people I talk to are extremely surprised to find out just how much $$ singers have to invest in the job right from the start!

The way things stand now in the operatic world, not only I am paying out of pocket for things like voice lessons and vocal coachings, but I  also have to pay for a chance at experience.

You read that right.

A chance.

Interviews in the operatic world are done via audition. The major difference between an interview and an audition? The vast majority of the time, opera singers have to pay the company or school to look at their resumé. It's called an application fee, and it doesn't even guarantee us an opportunity to advance to the second round of the process, typically the interview portion, or rather in the operatic case: the live audition. These fees, ranging anywhere from $25-$100, must be submitted with our application every time we send one. According to general advice, job-hunters should send out 10-15 applications a week, 2-3 per day, in the hopes of getting a single interview. 10-15 interviews, and you might get a job offer!

As you can imagine, for opera singers, the amount we pay just to be heard starts to add up quickly.

So, what now?

Patreon is the coolest thing. Harkening back to the days of the Medici Family, who are probably the most famous Patrons of the Arts, Patreon is an old world concept with a contemporary twist.

What does that mean?
Well, instead of one person, or one family completely supporting an artist as they create--being their exclusive "patron," as it were--Patreon allows many people to easily come together and directly support an individual or cause they care about, allowing artists the freedom to focus on their art, while at the same time crowd-sourcing the resulting salary so that there isn't one single individual shouldering the entire burden.

How does it work?
After creating a login, you give Patreon your credit card number or your Paypal, and just like any other subscription you pay for, once a month that amount is withdrawn. The difference is YOU get to choose how much you can afford to give, and cliché though it may be, every dollar counts in supporting me!

What's in it for you?
I'll come right out and say it: my Patreon isn't about freewill donations. Just like you would never subscribe to a newspaper or Netflix and expect nothing in return, my patrons should know that by supporting me, they'll not only be supporting my efforts in the operatic world, but they'll also gain access to exclusive monthly content ranging from blog posts to sneak peeks of what I'm working on, as well as behind-the-scenes photos and videos of the creative process! Eventually, I hope to be able to have the capabilities for live-feeds and uploaded videos of performances for those of you unable to attend in person!

About Me

It's more than just singing...
Do you remember the first time you heard someone sing live? What about the first time you heard someone sing opera live? It can be a life-changing experience, but sadly nowadays seems limited to somewhat pricey seats in a concert hall! It is my strong belief that everyone deserves a chance to hear opera, because opera is for everyone. And the more knowledgeable people become about the art form, the more they will find themselves appreciating what might have seemed otherwise inaccessible up to that point!

To this end, I actively seek out ways to spread the joy of opera and classical music outside of the typical venues. While I am currently involved in shows with the Tulsa Opera and am an active member of Oklahoma City's Opera on Tap group, I have also started singing at public events in shops around the greater OKC area in the hopes of exposing new audiences to an old art form!

Alongside these endeavors, I am also looking to sing for schools, retirement villages, libraries, and more! Investing a monthly amount with me will be an investment that extends much farther than just you or myself, and has the potential to instill in others a passion for this art form when they might otherwise never discover it.

I also compose!
Not many people know that about me, but I have been composing pieces for many years! More recently, my horizons have expanded and I've begun composing for not only myself, but some very dear singer-friends as well. I am looking to create opportunities for them to perform works in public that were created specifically with them in mind such as The Tea Party Scene from Alice in Wonderland and The Coffee Shopera--an opera to be performed in a coffee shop.

❤ Join me to help change the world, one song at a time!
