Who am I?

Oh boy, I have to write about myself now?  Um, let's see...  I'm a story addict and have been most of my life.  Now I write urban fantasy novels and short stories.  I write quickly but edit fairly slowly, so I average about 4 books a year, but I'm hoping to do a bit better in the future.  I'm also working on a few non-novel projects, such as the travel/photo essays I'm going to post here of my life as an expat in Japan.

What is all this supporting?

Well, aside from the usual helping me keep the lights on and feed my family, writing is a surprisingly expensive endeavor.   There's the popular image of the author, hunched over a desk all alone, painstakingly pouring words onto the page.  Well, that is part of it, but not the end of it by any stretch. Basically, I need to cover art for book covers, advertising, my internet connection, and stamps for all those postcards, among many other things that are shockingly expensive for a supposedly free and solitary career.

Tiers
gas station coffee
$1 or more per month

You have my undying gratitude, a special mention on my website's patrons page.  I'll also probably post terrible photos of myself in various places so you can see proof-of-life.

coffee chain coffee
$3 or more per month

all of the above, and at least one unedited excerpt or rejected passage a month from the  next novel.

Local cafe cuppa
$5 or more per month

all of the above, a mention in the back of my next book (You must be at this tier when the book is formatted, not when it's published.  Usually about a month before it goes live,) and early access to my short stories!  Also, access to a once a month life-in-Japan  post.

Fancypants espresso drink
$8 or more per month

Everything above and a free copy of my novel when it releases!

Anko Coffee
$10 or more per month

Everything you get with the fancypants espresso tier, but with the fun bonus of a monthly postcard from me, straight from my local mailbox and probably related to the photo essay of the month, when I can manage it!
