About LSAC Repeaters

Since its inception, the LSAC Repeater system was designed to support special event communications. The system has supported SKYWARN, the Beargrese Sled Dog Race, numerous bicycle tours, Marathons, and general communications.

The system at the moment is three distinct systems. The Western Lake Superior Network provides coverage on the North Shore of Lake Superior from Duluth to Grand Marais and along the South from Superior to Hurley Wisconsin. The Iron Range Network provides coverage from Grand Rapids on the West to Gilbert on the East. The I-35 Network, which is under development provides coverage on the Northern portion of the Twin Cities to Duluth route.

Without financial help from the amateur radio brotherhood, this fine repeater system would not happen. It takes money to keep the system operational. A partial list of expenses are: site rentals, equipment repairs and replacement, electrical power, contracted labor, and many other miscellaneous expenses.

Our fundamental issue has been that these expenses have been born by a very small number of of the users. To keep and improve this network we need to create a broader financial base. Think of LSAC Repeaters as a amateur radio club where you should pay dues to support operation of the club and help enhance the impact that club provides.

You can do this by subscribing on Patreon to provide sustaining support. A small monthly contribution of money will go far in maintaining and growing the LSAC Repeaters system. We are currently applying for 501c3 tax status which will made your contributions tax deductible when approved.
