My first novel, Huracán’s Hammer, is currently in its final stages and will be self-published in early 2019. Huracán's Hammer is the first in a series of three to five novels that depict a future in which the remnants of humankind must endure an inhospitable planet where cataclysmic weather conditions have become the new meteorological baseline. In this future, our planet is under constant siege by a global network of powerful hurricanes.

Picture the swirling atmospheric chaos of the planet Jupiter, but on a smaller scale here on Earth.

While extreme climate change is a key component to the world of the Huracán series, my purpose is not to preach, or even to inform; it is to explore the lives and stories of my characters, who must struggle to survive in this terrible new reality. I am a storyteller, not an activist. For me, the characters and events are what matter most.

While I have been working on Huracán for some time—building the world and fleshing out my characters and storylines—the public part of my Huracán journey is just beginning. I would love for you to keep me company on that journey, and I would sincerely appreciate some gas money. I have many extraordinary twists planned for the world and characters of Huracán, and the more I am able to focus exclusively on writing, the more quickly and completely I will be able to wrench these novels into being.

With the above in mind, I hope you will seriously consider becoming a patron, and perhaps sharing this project with a friend or two. I have tried to price the patronage tiers in a way that makes them accessible to anyone who is interested, while also leaving room for the most generous benefactors of the Huracán series to contribute as much as they want to.

I'll leave you with this enticing little tidbit, which will help explain the title of this series: the English word hurricane (and its Spanish equivalent huracán) is derived from the name of the Mayan storm god Huracán, who helped create humanity and who caused the Mayan version of the Great Flood as punishment for humanity's shortcomings. While the Mayan god himself does not appear in my series (I prefer to focus on worldly, human elements in my writing) his presence, and the effects of his dreadful wrath, are on every page.
