Hello, world.  This is Stephan of Lendrigan Games.

What are you making?
I'm trying to make a hack & slash game based on heavy metal themes and music.

... and?
I don't really know how to elaborate, mainly because I'm starting from zero and learning how to program.  I have a destination laid out for the final product, but getting there is going to be a while at the current rate.

What makes you so sure the game will stand out once you make it?
... for starters, sheer Design Philosophy.  Imagine that an Iron Maiden game is being made.  Whom would it feature as playable characters? ... the band members, of course.  Whom should it feature as such?  ... the various iterations of Eddie the Head.  Video games are uniquely capable of creating tailored worlds in which to fit the larger-than-life elements of heavy metal iconography and then let them stretch their legs and flex their arms.  As such, I'm looking to take the Power Metal route of larger-than-life characters, engaged in larger-than-life battles to a larger-than-life soundtrack.
Another source of confidence for me is that I'm trying to broaden the heavy metal landscape rather than revel in it.  Even if someone else takes this idea and cranks out a heavy metal hack&slash game, this game won't be threatened by that because these gameplay mechanics and gimmicks will be unique, the visual presentation will be unique, the characters will be unique, and the music will be unique.

How long do you think this will take?
That's where Patreon comes in.  While I can't give any accurate time-frame (this would be the first game that I've made), the more money that I get from Patreon, the more time I can spend on making the game.  Also, if donations become large enough, multiple people can work on this game, making it go even more quickly.

What do I get if I donate to you?
Your name will be in the credits.  Other benefits will be negotiable, but I'd rather talk with patrons to figure out what you'd want and what I can offer rather than simply put up popular rewards that I can't guarantee that I'd be able to fulfill.

Your name (or preferred pseudonym) will appear in the credits.

Additionally, after you've donated enough, you'll be considered to have pre-purchased the game.  Details are murky now but will be refined as the project grows.
Goals
$0 of $800 per month
I can work on the game full-time, thus giving everyone faster updates.
