About Heather Gallagher and Cultural Wasteland

Sick to death of business as usual in the world of classical music and with a world teetering on collapse, Cultural Wasteland was born.

Cultural Wasteland aims to creating compelling, vivid and intimate opportunities for musicians to collaborate and push boundaries. Part classical concert, part comedy show, part Cabaret, Cultural Wasteland events aim to connect audiences to local musicians and other artists they may not normally encounter by supporting those artists and by giving them a platform to explore and share some of their best work. Cultural Wasteland seeks to break down the barriers between classical music and more popular forms by showing that- at the end of the day, music is music and is to be savored and enjoyed.

Our first production, an online chamber version of Das Lied von der Erde will feature Tom Oesterling, tenor and pianists Yukiko Oba and James Myers as well as myself as the alto soloist. Other upcoming projects include a cabaret called, The Birthday Show: Part Deux as well as Letters from New York: the Songs of Chris De Blaiso and another cabaret featuring the works of Tom Leher.
