Lotus Heart Sanctuary will be an educational, interactive, fully vegan animal sanctuary in Scotland!

This sanctuary will not only benefit animals, but will benefit children, young people and adults alike! It will give people the opportunity to really interact with animals they would probably not otherwise have the chance to do so. These are the animals used for meat, eggs and dairy and also textiles. Animals are not food or fabric, they are someone, and we want to help people make that connection.

The sanctuary will focus a lot of time and energy on our environment. An important focus will be providing a space where we can educate people on the massive impact animal agriculture has on global warming.
The landmark report from the UN Livestock’s Long Shadow, states back in 2006 we were required to take urgent action, but 13 years have passed and we are now in an even more devastating position!
Educating people is crucial. We now live in a time where we can educate each other, we don’t need to wait for authorities and governments, we can use the power of the internet to get important messages out there.
Our education will be delivered through talks, documentaries, literature, and interactive headsets. This will not only be available to people who can physically visit the sanctuary, but people will be able to access this in a variety of ways via the internet.

To help with the running costs of the sanctuary, there will be a space for yoga, meditation, mindfulness, nutrition, holistic therapies, counselling and stress management. We are also looking into how we can utilise the environment as a form of retreat. This will be the perfect peaceful, loving and compassionate energy and environment for people to be surrounded by when coming in to "work on themselves", a place where people can simply "be".

There will also be a NOT-FOR-PROFIT shop selling ethically sourced clothing & merchandise carrying powerful messages and images relating to veganism, animal rights, love, peace and compassion. Everything is printed in vegan ink – all profits are donated to Lotus. The shop can currently be accessed via www.bohemianhippy.com/shop

For the animals it will be a safe haven where they can live out the rest of their lives in peace and be surrounded by love and care. Their presence and their story will help their brothers and sisters around the world still trapped in the cycle of suffering.

Since Prince was rescued in 2016 we have rescued, transported, rehomed and cared for countless animals across the UK and we will continue to do so.

Due to us not having our own land, we had to rehome most of the animals we rescued. We have to pay per animal, per week to keep them on private land, so it can become very costly. Prince has been with us since November 2016 and will live the rest of his life in peace and happiness with us. We also now have Bodhi, who like Prince, is also the son of a dairy cow and a lovely little lamb called Tara.

There are so many ways people can help us in the work we do – volunteering, sharing our social media posts and blogs, and of course donating to help with the costs of all the needs of the animals we work with.

In gratitude we thank you for your kindness, help and support
