Horror is great. I mean, who doesn't love being a little bit scared? Who doesn't want to be a little bit grossed out? But, when I wander into my local branch of Waterstones (other book retailers are available), I can't help but notice that the horror section is decidedly small. Sure, you've got your big hitters like King, Herbert, Hill, and Keene (who are all awesome, by the way), but sometimes indie horror has a stranger bite. Or, at least, it tastes a bit funky when you lick it.
That's where I come in.
After having read most of the horror section in my local Waterstones, I decided to start writing the kind of books that I wanted to read. These books tend to pay homage to classic movies like Evil Dead or American Werewolf in London... or whichever B-Movie I picked up on the cheap in Asda (other supermarkets are available). I wanted to tell stories that made me feel a little bit weird. Sometimes they're creepy, sometimes scary, sometimes spooky and sometimes gory... but they are ALWAYS fun.
My mission to create fun horror has already seen me write a small collection of stories (novels, novellas, short stories and flash fiction - you name it!) and you can check them out right here. But, that's not enough. I want to do more.
I have several projects on the horizon, including (but not limited to):
- "The Others" Part 3 - this will be the final novel in the trilogy and will happen with or without Patreon support... which is nice!
- HORROR BITES - This will be a selection of short stories and novellas (more info on this coming soon). The first story will be coming in the next couple of months.
- A Flash Fiction Anthology
- An Epic Horror/Dark Fantasy series.
What's in it for me?
REWARDS! Lovely shiny rewards! We've got eBooks, signed paperbacks, badges, t-shirts, and... best of all... EXCLUSIVE monthly stories. Yep, you read that right. You'll be getting stories that you cannot get anywhere else!
I'm going to use Patreon to help me create the aforementioned Flash Fiction Anthology. Every month on here, patrons who have selected the relevant level of membership will get access to an exclusive story. In due course, you'll also help me to select which stories end up in the anthology when the time comes.
As well as all that, there will be opportunities to name characters and just generally give me your input. Sound good?
What if I don't want to do the Patreon thing?
That's cool. I get it, it's not for everyone! But, don't worry, you can still support me by buying my books and spreading the word on social media/real life.
