Anya Alvarez is a former professional golfer on the LPGA, who took the plunge into writing. Over the last two years, she has written about women's sports for various publications such as: ESPN, Rolling Stone, VICE, GOOD, Salon, Teen Vogue, and Playboy Magazine.

Anya created MajorLeague Girls with the sole purpose of telling the stories of women and girls in sports who are paving the way for future generations, and using their platforms to create a lasting change.

The mantra of MajorLeague Girls is #TheFutureofSportsisGirls, and with that in mind, the mission is simple: to empower girls and non-binary persons to live passionately on and off the field

Why MajorLeague Girls Needs to Exist:

MajorLeague Girls
aims to fill the gap that other sports websites have yet to address: building sports contents for girls. I believe there is a huge opportunity to reach the demographic of girls who play sports (approx 30 million in the U.S.) and create compelling content that these girls can engage in, with the added benefit of keeping them encouraged to play sports. The website will have video content, blog posts from athletes, as well as a community page for fellow girl athletes to connect with each other to build a support group. Think Player's Tribune style but with a youthful twist to it. MLG's mission is to be more than just a media brand, but a full on lifestyle website that forge partnerships with brands with a vested interest in empowering girls.

MLG will donate 5% of its proceeds to the Women's Sports Foundation

My ear: give me story ideas, tips, or maybe you know a woman or girl in sports that should be featured. I want to know! If we move along with your story idea, we will make sure to credit you in piece
Goals
$9 of $2,500 per creation
$2000 will cover the monthly expenses of paying writers to develop content for the page.

The $500 will be for my time to edit pieces and update website and my time working on the MajorLeague Girl YouTube series.

When I reach this goal, I will feature a patron each month on my page to show my appreciation for those helping this kickoff.
