M. Sotherden is creating Magic from glass!

patrons

I've been a full time glass artist for 14 years. Half of the year, I get to meet my fans face to face, by selling my work at Renaissance Festivals in a 5 state area. The other half of the year I get to hang out with my amazing dog and make All The Glass Things. I love my job, and I especially love when I have some hare-brained idea that involves glass, kilns, torches, metal, polymer clay, or all of the above. To come with me on my glass art journey, (I promise you cannot catch fire through a computer screen!), sign up to become one of my patrons, and walk through the "looking glass" with me as I make magic happen in glass. (And hey, thank you.  I wouldn't be making cool things if it weren't for my amazing patrons, customers, and support network.)
Tiers
Hot drinks, cold studio
$3 or more per month
Thank you for funding my hot drinks!!! I drink lots of hot drinks in the winter when I'm Making All The Things. Cause my studio space is largely unheated/underheated.

I'll also give you first crack (painful pun intended) at new stained glass panels at this level, meaning I'll put them here for 72 hours before launching them on "open-to-the-public" platforms.

More Than Words
$10 or more per month (sold out!)
First, THANK YOU.

The title is totally a play on words... I mean, have you met me?) At this level of patronage, you receive more than my words in your inbox. After you've been a patron at this level for six months, I'll send a shiny thing to your mailing address. There will also be a single-use 15% off coupon enclosed, good for a year, and good for any pre-made item(s) at one of my shows or on my Facebook page (business or personal). Meaning whether you've been saving for a big item or lots of little gifts, you can use it once a year.  The only thing you really can't use it on is a custom order.

I'll send a new shiny thing and a new single-use coupon 12 months after the first, and 12 months after that, and so on.  My plan is to make the shiny thing - in year 2, 3, and so on - an exclusive thing that you can't buy in my shop.  It will be just for my patrons.

The epic electric bill
$30 or more per month
First off, WOWSERS!  THANK YOU! I make my stock in the wintertime mostly, and I have a few kilns (which I fire off regularly both to produce stock and warm the studio) and 2 space heaters. If you join at this level, I'd like to make a piece of art for you as a thank you.  Please let me know your color preferences. I also will include a single-use 20% off coupon that is good for one year. I know most of you at this level are just happy to support an artist you like, and have real world jobs that make that do-able for you. Meaning, I know you may toss the coupon in the trash and that's ok. But *I* have a hard time just saying "thanks" without offering you a tangible thank you in return.  I hope that doesn't dissuade you from signing up.

Here's the specifics: After you've been a patron for three months, I'll send a shiny thing to your mailing address. There will also be a single-use 20% off coupon enclosed, good for a year and good for any pre-made item(s) at one of my shows or on my Facebook page (business or personal). Meaning whether you've been saving for a big item or lots of little gifts, you can use it once a year.  The only thing you really can't use it on is a custom order.

I'll send a new shiny thing and a new single-use coupon 12 months after the first, and 12 months after that, and so on.  The shiny things I send will be exclusive things that you can't buy in my shop. For example, I have a bin of glass called "the Dragon Hoard". I don't use it. I keep it to look at it. It makes me happy. You might get a piece made from a chunk of that - some of it is salvage from the Tiffany era, for example, and is glass they haven't made in 50 years.

Or it might be an item made just for you. I can't promise it will be glass. Cause I will (politely) and obsessively follow you on Facebook for awhile before I send you something so that it is hopefully tailored to you.

Goals
96% complete
After being in business for 14 years, I've started having to replace equipment. As in, completely replace. Not fix.  It would be awesome to have a dedicated goal of "I will replace this nonfunctional and suddenly very expensive paperweight with a working piece of equipment"... instead of freaking out and trying to cover my butt with a $50 workaround... for the millionth time.
