My name is Bobby Coggins and I am looking for help in with my citizen journalist effort that focuses on video recording and posting gavel to gavel coverage of local government meetings. I also run a weather and public safety information service that I would like to expand to include weather and road condition webcams and weather stations in and around Macon County, which is located in far western North Carolina.

An example of the kind of content that I've produced over the years can be seen on my main Youtube channel at https://www.youtube.com/user/ThunderPigBlog and on my blog, at http://maconmedia.com My weather and public safety page currently resides at this Facebook Page

With additional funding from you, I can buy equipment (virtually everything I use is borrowed or has been donated for me to use) and pay a web designer to create a real website that can house all this information.

All my online content of local board meetings will continue to be free. I just need help in being able to buy and maintain equipment, establish a web presence and some breathing room that will let me take my digital coverage of local news to the next level.

Donate only what you can afford.

If you do not wish to use Patreon, you can send a one-time donation to my Pay Pal account by logging into your Pay Pal account and sending money to [email protected]

**update** A number of people have indicated that they do not want to donate online.

If you decide to go that route, here is how to do it:

please put patreon in the memo so I can keep proper records when tax time comes.

Those who give via patreon will have access to content others do not see and content before others see it.

Anything you give is greatly appreciated and the more you can give (and please tell others to give) will help me to be able to cover more meetings, buy better computers so I can process video faster and afford to be able to hire people to operate cameras for me when the various local governing bodies schedule two or three meetings at the same time.

The main goal with my video coverage is to provide the people of Macon County with the most accurate information about what their elected and appointed official are doing in a timely manner.

The main goal with my weather and public safety effort is to provide as accurate information about current and expected weather and road conditions in and around Macon County as I can. This includes posting information about traffic accidents, fires and other things that may cause traffic headaches...and if you are armed with this information, you can avoid being late to wherever it is that you need to be.

I would like for you to donate either $1, $2, $3, $4 , $5 or more a month to help me out.  Any amount you pledge is appreciated. (You can also give less than a dollar a month if you're really strapped for funds and just want to let me know you're out there).

Goals
$126 of $500 per month
With this level of support, I can begin purchasing webcams to place at various locations around the county so the community can check out weather and road conditions when the weather is bad (or just to enjoy them when the weather is good) and to check out attendance at local festivals. Each camera costs about $200 plus $100 a year in subscribing to a basic cloud video storage system. The advanced video streaming and storage option costs $300 a year per camera.
