Who are you?

Hi there, I’m Martin Wong and I am a photographer. You know, one of those people that clicks a button on a fancy machine and pretty images come out. Well, it’s a little bit more complicated than that, but you get the whole picture.

I have been taking photos from a very young age, and shooting professionally for about 8 years. And I am still loving it. That’s why I have create this Patreon page and would love to continue to do so.

So….what’s the point of this?

Photography is my passion and I love sharing it with the world. But I don’t want to separate people who want to give me some extra support or any other loving fans. The point of this is more like a tip, like when you tip at a restaurant or give a street performer a dollar bill for captivating you and stopping you in your track for just a brief moment. It’s more of an encouragement and a way saying “good job!” or “thank you!” for making your day a little brighter.

How does this affect your photo quality?

Well….it doesn’t. Because I will still hold myself to the same standards that I've always held, and that is to keep producing beautiful images and showing people the world from my perspective. I want you to donate because YOU want to, and will not hold images at ransom if you want to see more. Donate nothing if you don't feel like it, I will still keep on producing awesome photos.

However, with extra funding, I can invest into better equipment and bigger projects, like outdoor adventures and difficult-to-produce pictures like these:


And I really want to do more stuffs like these.

Rewards and perks?

There is only one tier, well, two (we will get to that in a bit).
You can donate a dollar (which won’t be much after fee and stuffs) or more. Again, I don't want to cut you off from content, so whatever you feel like and want to give from your heart is the best. If you don’t want to or can’t donate, no problem, I still love you the same. You can always help out by spreading the word, or showing people my work as well.

While all my photos will still be published publicly, I guess I can throw in some goodies every once in a while for patrons but no promises. Things like early sneak peeks, voting for future projects, or some hi-res wallpaper for your computer and phone. If you want to steal those and give it to other people, I can’t stop you, but please don’t. (So we can keep on having nice things!)

And…what’s that other tier?

Oh, right! The other thing that I have here is something that I got asked a lot, so I want to use this opportunity to give it a try. I always love teaching and educating others, and a lot of you have asked me if I do workshop or panels on photography. Therefore, I am also offering a monthly personal one hour Google Hangouts session with me (and four others MAX), where I can teach specific photography and photoshop tricks, and you will be allowed to ask any questions you like. I will have a basic syllabus each time and I can demonstrate instantly on webcam and share photoshop screens on anything you ask.

I want to keep it small and personal, so you will have plenty of opportunity for interaction and to ask questions. If by some miracles, more than four other people want to sign up, I will create another session rather than cramping more people into one class.
