Hi! I’m Robert Gatewood, founder of Master Collective, and owner of a place called Full Spectrum: GamerHaven in my home neighborhood of Collinwood in Cleveland, Ohio. I am a Graphic Designer by trade, a gamer to my core, and am passionate about connecting people to new ideas and resources.

I came to Patreon for a couple of reasons: Our organization supports people in their work, our space holds innovative neighborhood-unifying events, and our team has a lot to say about the work and things going on in it. I believe we are creating a unique community that will create more good together than any of us could do separately (and we all do a TON separately), but through your patronage we will be able to better represent and embody the ideals that I believe you share with us.

Being a Patron will get you ground-level access to a number of our events, media, workshops, apparel, artwork, and other creations this network generates. Many exclusive benefits await you if you are gracious enough to become a Patron, but more than that your support means you also believe in some or all of what we do. For that we are truly thankful.

Patreon is an awesome platform to support creative people and organizations to create works. We are using it because we believe there is value in ongoing support for what we do. Maintaining a facility for our work and providing our skills affordably (or free) is critical to improving the community so Patreon is a perfect way for people who love our work or the people it helps to contribute. Your contributions will directly fund the material expenses for holding events, workshops, and producing the content we offer in media channels.

What do we do? I’ll try to keep it as short as I can.

Master Collective

Master Collective, my collaborative creative organization, exists to empower talented and overlooked creatives in doing their best work. We support artists, makers, and local artisans in developing and offering their art, food, or creations in efficient ways--rather than having people who are interested in creating things be slowed down with the business, we handle that so they can be focused on their passions. All the not-fun-but-necessary work of being a business is taken off of their plate and we see this as required to have people reaching their potential.

We do this work out of our first Full Spectrum facility, GamerHaven.

Full Spectrum: GamerHaven

GamerHaven is a creative coworking community space crafted from a former coffee shop. Full Spectrum spaces are membership spaces, so no less than 4 days a week are exclusively available to members in its full capacity. No worries though, membership is free and access is affordable and flexible.

It’s larger than the sum of its parts; filled with current generation video games consoles, screens, comfortable seating, document printing, and other creative tools (tablets, high-end gaming PCs) and a incubator cafe that can offer member made food products, GamerHaven during its day-life flexes to accommodate entrepreneurs in need of working space, gamers who need a place to play with each other, students who need to print assignments and can relax as they wait, and any other combination of people who see value in all of our resources.

GamerHaven Community Outreach

Because all of these tools are so rarely placed in a community-centric and intentional way with each other, it became clear that a part of its value would come from making this space openly available to whomever had any interest. While the typical rental of space for familiar events has been a staple, it also has lead to a number of community uses we didn’t anticipate: community development corporations have held public meetings here, we’ve partnered with local colleges for student/alumni networking, been host to leaders in creative industries interested in sharing their work with underexposed youth, and all varieties of private media and art driven events.

Positioning GamerHaven as a place not just for the play of games but as a community space that can use modern tools and techniques for the neighborhood and community’s good will make Master Collective’s goals of empowering people who don’t often get access to these tools easier. And it will happen naturally and organically because the groups are finding their way here on their own, and they are learning first-hand how much more in common we have than we not.

Master Collective Workshops & Multimedia

In addition to these specific resources and assets we are trying to make available, Master Collective is chock full of creative individuals itself. Each one of us maintains individual passion for a variety of things and our output can be your rewards for support.

We are planning multiple video series and podcasts each as diverse as the team we hold: Games Culture content, Social Commentary, and Education are the three primary areas we’ll work in as we make them. As a Patron you can have a hand in deciding what is produced first, and how we create.

Additionally, partner businesses who provide Master Collective tools (apparel partners, food vendors, artists, etc.) will produce things you can get early or even exclusive access to! As we finalize the list of producers more details will be shared with Patrons.

Lastly, the educational portion of our business will come primarily from locally-held workshops in a variety of subjects. They first few will be based on games development, graphic design, and branding basics. For eligible Patrons able to participate in person, they’d get free access! For those unable to be in person, livestreamed access is planned.

How can I get access to my choice of these things?

Because video games (and specifically Role Playing Games) are at my core, Patrons benefit from my base belief in scalability and flexibility in building a system. Player (or Patron) choice is paramount, and because we offer so many intersecting assets I had to make sure dollar amounts accurately correspond the contribution's impact as well as possible.

We have what I’m calling the ‘MP System’, first rolling out with Patrons on Patreon!

MP, or Mastery Points, are just a tongue-in-cheek way for us to normalize dollars into a currency that spends (and gains value) more easily than cash can on the internet.

One dollar is equal to 10 MP, and MP accrues in your account monthly as you remain a Patron. Different pledge amounts yield bonus MP, as does interaction in our community (via social media or Discord).

When it’s time to cash in your MP for some tangible reward, you’ll be issued an MP Certificate, good either in person or on our General Store online.

Rather than force your hand into deciding right this second what you’d like your money to return to you as, I wanted to tell our story and leave supporting our efforts in your hands. Within the next 7-10 days I will flesh out even more details regarding Patron offerings, the future of Full Spectrum, and some of our partner organizations that will make my vision reality.

All Patrons will have access to our Discord server, which we'll use as primary early access communications along with a private Facebook Group.

If you believe that creativity is light, and all people deserve an opportunity to experience the light as freely as possible;

If you know that video games are an overall positive and impactful force on society, and can be used to equip people young and old for better lives;

If you see that differences between groups are assets and strengths and not liabilities and weaknesses; then

Please consider pledging even one dollar to our campaign, every dollar counts!

Find out more about what we're doing on our
Master Collective or Full Spectrum: GamerHaven pages on Facebook. Thank you again.
