This is a big one! It was an epic experience and an equally epic production - HUGE thanks for all the support that made it possible, and I'm happy to announce ForeFlight as a supporter with this one! Announcing Patreon Community Guidelines!

Dear Creators and Patrons, Today is a big day. We are introducing our new Community Guidelines in the interest of growing and protecting a safe, healthy community for Creators and Patrons everywhere. We put a lot of time and effort into this endeavor, because that’s what it warrants. Even so, we recognize that not everyone will be happy about the Community Guidelines and the difficult but important decisions they entail. Patreon is a beautifully diverse, dynamic ecosystem with space for a wide range of genre and geography. It’s simply not possible for us to make everyone happy, and that’s ok. We've thought very carefully about these Community Guidelines and worked with Creators, mentors, and community building experts to make sure we put together the best possible framework for Patreon. The Community Guidelines are a model, a map for ensuring the well-being of all current and future community members. Every model is, by nature, an oversimplification and no model is a perfect catch-all. This model is no exception. We don’t have all the answers but we do welcome your feedback. Here’s what’s happening next. First, the grace period. We will be phasing in the enforcement of the Community Guidelines over the next seven days. Later today, we’ll be contacting Creators whose pages are currently in violation of the new Community Guidelines to explain enforcement and give everyone a fair opportunity to comply with the guidelines, available here: [www.patreon.com/guidelines]. If a Creator is found to be in violation of the most serious parameters after seven days, we will halt payouts and remove the page from Patreon. We do not take this task lightly nor do we intend to be anything but thorough, deliberate, and compassionate in our decision making. We’re committed to a rigorous internal evaluation protocol and readily available to field your questions and concerns. These Community Guidelines are our good faith effort to protect and evolve a platform capable of powering the world we envision, a world which recognizes, values, and encourages creation.
