I've been writing for more of my life than I haven't, and that feels like the last mandatory hurdle before I can officially refer to myself as "a writer." So, as a writer, I'm making a move toward becoming ONLY a writer, instead of someone who works a low paying retail job, raises a child, does her chores, and, sometimes late at night gets a few stolen minutes to scribble words into a notebook. To do this, however, I need a few things, like a website, a few more hours a week to follow a dream that has long been just out of reach, and the money to do so without losing my apartment. Here comes the part where I sell myself, or at least small but important parts of myself, to you:
I am a published, produced, and award-winning poet and playwright. It's true. My poem "A Prepared Explanation For Change of Address" was published in the Spring 2017 volume of 13th Floor Literary Magazine. My play "Sissy And The War: A Feminist Adaptation of Lysistrata" was staged during the Spring season of 2015 and nominated for a Motif Theatre Award in the Best Production and Best New Script categories. And, once upon a time, I was a New Yorker Young Poet To Watch.
I work in a creatively autobiographical voice that is honest and austere while, at times, can be brutal and visceral in its visual components. To quote a friend, if I may, my creations deal "with the human body and how we negotiate desire." Currently, I am working on a play titled "The Many Deaths of Jeff Goldblum" and an illustrated chapbook of confessional poetry that I'm hopeful will still be called "They Do Their Laundry In Public Places" when it is done.
As it says above, I am also working on a graphic novel. It is an idea that I've spent the better part of six years developing and am finally in a position to begin actual progress on. Think feminism meets fantasy and environmental politics. Plus monsters and concubines. Cool, right?
The real and only reason that none of these things is already done is because I do not have the time. With your support I could work a few hours less a week, cover that lost income, and pay for a private domain. I'd be able to make real progress and bring you along for the ride.
Since I'm only just getting started, the perks will begin small, but I can promise that the perks will get better and better as I have the ability to get more and more ideas developed. I can promise that you will have access before anyone else to what I'm working on and any headway made. And I can promise you will have my eternal gratitude and an acknowledgement credit in anything published from here on out.

I hate the number 1. Like, REALLY hate it. So let's skip it and go straight to 2. When you pledge $2, you get patron only access to my progress blog. This can include anything from how I got an idea to what inspired me to what's on the playlist I've been listening to. I promise it'll be totally bitchin'.

For $5 a month, you get access to the progress blog PLUS access to first drafts and doodles. Much like the progress blog, I will update as I go and when I get a good first try down, I will post it on this bad boy. All posts will go on my website eventually, but you get access to it all a week before the public.

You get access to regularly posted AMAs. I'll make a post with a subject, and you can ask anything you like about that subject (within reason, as long as it's respectful). And then...I HAVE TO ANSWER, because that's how the internet works, right?

Plus, you'll get all previous tier rewards.

So this is new for me; I've never done anything like this before, but this level of support will get you exclusive videos and sound recordings of scene work and/or poetry readings. When I post something, I encourage constructive criticism and discussion. Help me be better.

You will also have access to all prior tier rewards.

Partner In Crime
$50 or more per month 1 patron
You are officially a collaborator at this point. $50 is a lot of money in my world and that can make up for half a day off from the cruel reality of retail. Because you will have made such a huge difference in my creative life and my ability to move through projects with some semblance of streamlined success, you will officially get a thank you in whatever is published or produced next. You will also be named on my blog when I get the website up and running.

As well as, you know, all the rewards that came before.

There's probably nothing I could ever do that would be worthy of $100 a month, but I could certainly try to make it up to you by writing you a poem. That's right. A poem just for you. You answer a few questions about yourself and I write you something personal. I promise I won't make fun of you.

AND you get all previous tier rewards.

Goals
$56 of $273 per month
This would fund one day off a week for an entire month. That means more content for you guys and more progress for me. THAT means the progress blog would be updated once a week instead of twice month.
