It's been a few years, and the scope of this patreon has changed slightly. I've finished the first cycle of eight short games, Playing Nature's Year, and I have yet to start the next cycle. probably called Phases. I'm in an 'in-between" space, designing strange reflective games when I can steal enough slivers of time between taking off the "doing museum work" hat and putting on the "co-designing Apocalypse World 2nd Edition" hat or the "raising teenagers" hat to piece together a whole thought. Stick around. It may not be as regular as the cycles, but it'll be interesting!

Meguey is creating a series of eight seasonal wishing and fortune telling games to see you through the year. She started with The Holly and the Ivy , in which you vie to be the one to catch the White Stag of Dawn, and if you win the game, you get your heart's wish. Coming next is In the Company of Birds, in which you and another player try to attract the most birds to nest in your tree, and how many you attract tells your fortune together. After that, perhaps games about the sweet rising maple sap, the May bells of Montague, bringing the harvest home, or the ghosts of your Beloved Dead on All Hallow's Eve.

You can read The Holly and the Ivy  here on Medium for a preview. All the games will be short, quick, and easily played, with straightforward rules and no special pieces required. Perfect for a stolen moment of reflection and connection, or a dinner-party celebration with friends.
