First let me say that I love and adore authors and writers. I admire their dedication to their craft and I had always openly envied them until now. Now I have the wonderful opportunity to work with independent authors from around the world and it is the most rewarding work I’ve ever been a part of. I am also in a position where I am required to write about 5000 words per week, and am finding the business of being a writer very fulfilling.

Some of you may know me and some of you may not. I started out with my website and blog three years ago, when I realized how much I missed the publishing industry and creating art. I revisited my hearts-desire to be an illustrator and writer. It had been over a decade since I had drawn a thing, and I had no idea how successful I would be.

When I started out with my artwork, Twitter was the safest place for me to share my art because I had some followers there, but no real friends, so there was no fear of embarrassment. When I started sharing my artwork my network grew rapidly and I decided I should start a blog to showcase some of it. It quickly occurred to me how many independent authors there were on twitter, and considering I had formerly been an illustrator for one of the Big Five in New York, I thought I would query a few of those authors and see if they’d commission me. This was pretty damn bold if you ask me, but it worked. The very first author I contacted hired me to illustrate a cover for his book, and the second author hired me as well, so I was off and running.

Things progressed quickly and soon I was trying to attract new independent authors to my website through my blog. So now I had to write content that would snare them. What do you suppose writers want to hear about? Writing and publishing of course!

So began my research, hours and hours and days and days that turned into months of researching the topics of writing and self-publishing. And then I started writing and before I knew it, they were calling me The Indie Author Advocate®.

It had worked, I was a success! My business was growing and I was getting noticed. Of course I learned a lot about writing, blogging, publishing, and platform design over those months, so it was fate that I begin to write these books. The first four are written and at the editors and I hope to have the bulk of them published this year. The last book is a fantasy I have been working on this year and hoping to publish this first work of fiction by 2017.

Books

Working in the publishing industry has given me extensive insight into the circumstance of the independent author. After years of working with independent authors while they developed their platforms and marketing plans, I gained both general and specialized knowledge that I thought could be brought together to help other indies.

I am also currently working on a self-help book for introverts which is still in the layout process. I don’t plan on publishing this until the end of 2017.

As for my fiction, I have been writing fantasy since I was a young girl and even won a Young Authors Award with my first book, although I never had it formally published.

Today I own and operate Mundus Media Ink and offer a wide assortment of services to independent authors, from book cover design to copywriting services. I also recently added independent publishing due to requests from clients seeking help with publishing and marketing. To my delight, our first eight books will be released this year.

Things you may expect to see in the future: a weekly flash fiction, some drawing and painting, and also some articles geared toward writer's and authors. I have several interesting projects in the making including a boxed set of books that I am writing and future videos of my artwork in the making. I am a busy artist, I will post my doodles and sketches, illustration projects and their process, and give away free downloads sometimes in gratitude for support. :-)

I have a friend who lives in a tiny home and would love a painting of her favorite animal, the parrot. I will be drawing and then painting in stages a 9" x 12" acrylic painting of this tropical bird that will fit just perfectly in her cozy home as a housewarming gift :-)
