Hello and welcome to the Patreon page for Mimetic Phantom Productions! Here you can support the channel for as little as one dollar! What's that! That's an AMAZING deal! "But Phantom!" You say! "I don't know jack diddly about you! Why should I give you my hard earned dollar!?" Fair question faceless number of ones and zeroes on the internet! Allow me to give you a basic run down of who I am, what I do and what the channel is about, what you can expect from the channel now and in the future, and what you can expect your hard earned monies can go towards.

Who I am
Rather than bore you with my life story, I''ll make it as simple as I can. Events in my life stalled me both academically and professionally for about a decade when I was younger. Now-a-days I'm going to college for Theater and Film (double majors ftw!), and being an ambitious bastard. It's pretty much a foregone conclusion that my only real chance to make a living is in the arts. So here I am, working both on stage or in front of the camera, and behind the scenes. I'm trying to turn a dinky little YouTube channel into something large that myself and my fans can be proud of (I get into detail further below). I'm writing novels, learning digital art and digital music, and dabbling in both stage and screenplays. As you can imagine, I don't particularly sleep.

What I do
Well, isn't this a loaded question... Oh, you mean what do I do! I thought you meant... Never mind. At my core, I'm an entertainer. I love making people smile and laugh, and hopefully forget some of their woes for a while. At the very least I hope to elicit some emotion, even if it's hate... Mm... Delicious, delicious rage. I just couldn't live without my daily dosage of Schadenfreude applause!
As for what I actually do. Well, I do a little bit of everything at the moment, I am just one guy making these episodes after all. I'm a professional actor (no I can't pay the bills with this yet, theater doesn't pay that well here and costs of living and rent aren't cheap); an amateur voice actor; a writer of prose and film; and I'm just getting started in music production & audio engineering, editing, art both 2d and 3d, and I dabble in singing, and game design, both computer and tabletop. I suspect it's because of my life being essentially on hold that I feel an overwhelming urge to do all of the things?
"But what about the CHANNEL!?" I hear you cry. This channel was originally spawned as an idea to show off what I can do on a mic. Sort of a continuation of something I've been doing since I was 6 years old but never recording. Episodic tales of characters I had come up with and assigned voices to. Now though? It's so much more! I consider it the first stepping stone to greatness. I'm not talking about becoming a YouTube star, though that'd be freakin' awesome. I'm talking about it being the vessel that leads to the penultimate dream, the corner stone of an empire... What is that you ask? Well, you'll have to head to the next section to find out.

The Phantom's Future
Did you happen to notice what I called the channel? Mimetic Phantom Productions. That's all the clue you need right there. I'm getting ahead of myself, though. I'll get there, I'll get there. I'll keep this brief, already eating up a ton of your time. A simple summarized list of future plans and projects for the channel! Names of shows subject to change, list in no particular order.
1, RBC) a Mystery Science Theater 3000 styled reading and roasting of prose. Public domain, of course, until rights are obtained for more modern works.
2, Improvalicious) a live-action improv based show hosted by Yours Truly. The idea is to do it in a public park and invite the public to watch and or join in.
3, Ready, Set, Fight!) Action sequences, starring everyone's favorite phantom, and some friends!
4, Wait, I've got animation now?) That's right! Soon as we can get some animators on staff (or I like.. You know... Learn WTF I'm doing), we're gettin' cartoons baby!
5, Tutorials and Tips and Tricks!) I don't know if I'll be putting these on my private Actor's channel or on the MPP channel, depends on what you guys want. This will be things like laryngeal and vocal care, voice over tips and techniques, maybe some dialect work.
6, ???) ... Umm...
7, $$$) Profit!
Outdated jokes aside, 6) Full production studio. That's right, you heard me.
That's the REAL reason for this Patreon page!... Besides, you know... Survival... Mimetic Phantom Productions will grow to become a studio that produces web shows, film, and maybe television (Netflix or something), both live action and animated.  That's the dream ladies and gentleman. That's what we're striving for here. Obviously it's going to require a lot of equipment, a lot of time, and a whole lot of people.

So... The money?
Which brings me to a neat little list of what the money will be spent on, and of course, the best estimates I can come up with. Half of all donations will be put towards surviving, and half will be put towards upgrading the channel. Bear in mind outside funds from Patreon are not factored into the following considerations, and include things like merch, sponsorship deals, etc.
Cost of Living) $3500/month. This is essentially what my fiancee and I have deduced we should need to live in our area. This includes rent, bills, food, insurance, etc. Yes, it's technically pretty high for 1 person to be bringing in, but it's about what's necessary for a single income household. I mean, ya'll want me to keep living so I can keep giving you content, right? Right!
Equipment) ???. I really can't put a price on this one, considering the fluctuating costs of technology and labor. I'm currently working off of a set up that's probably only about $60 or so, not counting the camera, which is just a Logitech c920. I'd love to get a better mic, probably starting with something like an AT2020, and an actual honest to goodness camera like a Canon. Then of course there's professional grade software considerations.
Rights) To begin with I'm working off the good graces of authors, or public domain stuff over at Project Gutenberg. I would love to be able to purchase the rights to narrate audiobooks on my channel without fear of COPYRIGHT DEATH! Oh! And subscriptions to stock art and effect websites, for example!
Channel Upgrades) One would think these would go under equipment right? Not quite so dear visitor! This is for things like channel art, stills, animations, etc. Right now, we're working with just the Phantom. Kind of boring I'd imagine. For the MST3K inspired show, I at least need some stills of the character involved. Otherwise it makes no sense.
Creation of Merch) I'm kind of hoping people will want Tshirts and mugs and standard YouTuber Merch of the characters and shows created. Who wouldn't want a custom mask modeled after the Phantom's Own?... Any, anyone?... Hellooo?
Salaries) You think a lot of the popular and prolific Youtube channels are just one person at a computer? Oh no, gaming channels maybe because of what they do, but thinks like Game Theory, Nostalgia Critic, heck even TheOdd1sOut! They've got handfuls to dozens of people working for them, which means there are salaries to pay. We will be no different. Quicker and better editing, actual animation, cinematographers, etc etc. Now, to be frank (though I'd rather be Jim, amirite?), I plan to be as solo indie as possible for as long as I can keep up with demand for content. But I am literally just one guy, and I'd like to upload more than two to four times a month.
Permits & Rental Space) Yeah... This one may or may not be necessary. We're still a long way off for anything live action, so I haven't looked into it too much. There's a distinct possibility that the Improv In The Park events will require permits. Fight scenes an small filming in the park? No, those don't require permits, as far as I know. But full on shows? You betcha... Also, if we start doing live action shows, gonna have to rent out spaces to film in. Hard boiled detective scene in a bar? Rent out the bar for a few hours and film.
Filming Equipment & Other) I separated this from basic equipment because this is end-game level stuff only really put here because I wanted to be honest with you all about what goes in to making a full studio. Lights, gels, costumes, cameras, monitors, etc etc. All of this costs a BUTT LOAD of money. God forbid we manage to actually rent out or buy a warehouse or something and turn it into a sound stage. But I'm getting WAAY ahead of myself here.
Animation) I'm listing this here because while it should be listed under salaries, I wanted to give you guys an example of how much high quality animation costs. A single episode of a professionally produced anime, for example, can run between about $250,000 dollars for about 15 minutes of animation, to over 1 MILLION for an hour or longer. Now, that includes office space, materials such as art supplies and cameras, animators, voice actors, directors, producers, etc. But that's just an example. I don't expect to funding such levels of animation from a source like Patreon, though if we manage it that would be frickin' amazing. The kind of animation I'm thinking of is simple flash/adobe/other-pro-level-program animations, of a quality similar to some of my favorite animators on YouTube... As much as I'd LOVE to, you know, have animation like Otaking77077, that traditional hand-drawn animation is expensive and time-consuming like nobody's business. So ours should probably cost quite a bit cheaper.

So yeah, there ya go. A summary of who I am, what I do, the mission statement/overall plan, and what your money will be going towards.... Come to think of it I should probably separate the "money going towards NOW" and the "Money not going towards yet" items... Ah, well, you people are smart, I'm sure you'll understand what's being prioritized... The... The survival and more immediately available stuff, like, gear upgrades and hiring people so we can pump these things out quicker....
