About Modern Times Theater
Modern Times Theater is building a sustainable structure to continue to create handmade entertainment in unconventional spaces.
Our work has long been subsidized by short-term and project-specific partnerships with schools, libraries, and arts organizations-- and lots of free labor.
By contributing, you are helping to sustain Modern Times Theater’s commitment to accessible, community-based art, and high-quality entertainment . . . for the long haul!

We create shows, based on a tradition of popular entertainment, produced with organizations and in venues that offer free or affordable admission. The town square, public beach, neighborhood hangout, schoolyard, local library, and small theater.
We build events that are rooted in our local rural region, seasonal, participatory, and free or cheap. Serving the basic needs of food, companionship, belonging, and entertainment.
We make stuff: how-to books, posters and postcards, unconventional performance venues, costumes, comedy videos, papier-mâché props, big parading puppets and little trick hand puppets, cheap art, jokes, exhibits, and novelty songs.
