Hi, my name is Salim Garami. I'm a graduate in Filmmaking Practices from ASU, I'm an aspiring filmmaker and somebody who tries to get involved in as many film productions and festivals as I possibly can, I'm the former co-host of the movie-based college radio show A Night at the Opera on ASU's The Blaze, and I'm the writer and head honcho of my personal movie review blogsite Movie Motorbreath. I'm also pretty cool, I like to think. I don't think I'm Humphrey Bogart or Steve McQueen but...

And before I became any of those things, I used to be a cinephile. I still am one, but I use to too. I started writing in Motorbreath in 2011 and I like to think it has gotten way better at writing and expressing my thoughts on film because of it as well as it influencing the way I'd like to expect my own film work to be - both in observation and in making me more aware of what I write and want to say. It gives me a voice.

Movie Motorbreath is more than just a movie-related blog, though nothing I ever put there is unrelated to cinema. I interject my own history with some of these films, I slowly learn more about films and acknowledge that by exploring further into these films and try to share what I've learned, hell, there's literally a page dedicated to my best friend and a post about my favorite local revival screenings. It's most of my personality put into a blog that happens to be dedicated to cinema.

Other personal favorite reviews include:
- D.W. Griffith's The Birth of a Nation
- J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens
- Gillo Pontecorvo's The Battle of Algiers
- Sam Raimi's Evil Dead II
- Eiffel 65's music video for "Blue (Da Ba Dee)"

That last one was an April Fools' Joke, but I don't take half-measures with my writing.

It takes a lot of time and energy to write nevertheless, especially on top of other jobs, schooling, taking care of a dog, and other things. It also takes money and the amount of movies I want to push myself to see and review mean a lot of tickets being paid before I come back and put my thoughts to a blog page. I don't like pirating movies - I write to support art and artists can't eat off of some guy like me on the internet saying "this movie was good". The financial cost of watching films is why I find myself now wanting to take the leap and see if I can just cover this labor of love with the support of people who'd love to read and watch my stuff.

Whether Motorbreath gets absolutely no pledges or makes me an unexpected millionaire, it's going to keep going. I love movies. I love watching them and I love writing and talking about them and I have too much to say not to put it out there. There's no need to feel guilty if you enjoy reading my stuff, but can't pledge or if you'd rather not.

But I also don't just want to write blogs for this title of Movie Motorbreath. I've already tried my hand at expanding to podcast and video - the podcast was really not good, while the YouTube channel is fine but amateur (I'm pretty proud of Hit Me With Your Best Shot, a series based on The Film Experience's interactive series of the same name and it's gonna be returning really soon) and I'd love to just expand more and more into other ways of reviewing and critiquing movies, film history, and culture. There are some things that I can just illustrate better with a video than I can with a long essay and some that I can just illustrate better in the conversation of a podcast and this would definitely help in getting those off the ground.

It also would probably be nice to have a chance to pay my recent co-writer Michael Margetis for his contributions. He's a guy just as excited about seeing and talking about films as I am and two heads are better than one sometimes. Unless you can't go on a ride or something because of those two heads.

With your support, Movie Motorbreath can keep on running steadily, maybe even more rapidly. By all means, whether you want to pledge or not, please visit the Wordpress site (again moviemotorbreath.wordpress.com) and check out some of our writing. Thanks for clicking on the link. And remember, keep the reel rolling, just keep the reel rolling.

A dollar goes a long way and it's definitely appreciated.

Your name will get featured on the Thank You, Patrons page I create on the Wordpress site and each month when I select a certain movie as a theme of that page, you and the other patrons can have option to have your own one or two sentence review of that movie posted alongside your name.

You're not just satisfied with being recognized for your patronage towards us, you want to get something out of it. Something tangible, proof of your awesomeness in your hands. But nothing too fancy, just enough to know that you're a pretty swell person who likes covering for his or her fellow movie-lover. Which you are, don't let anybody tell you you ain't swell.

Anyway, in addition to the $1 reward, you will receive a shitty stick figure recreation of any movie scene of your choice, drawn by yours truly. I mean, I'm obviously not much of an artist, but I see these kinds of rewards all the time on Patreon, so I figure why can't I try it? What has Don Hertzfeldt got that I ain't got?

Talent. Don Hertzfeldt has hella talent.

OK, you're right in the middle between $1 and $10 and I admire a man like that. You know just where you want to be, not too much, not too little. Since you're so certain of things, I'll give you a choice:

In addition to the $1 and $3 rewards, you can either receive:
- a personal post where I give a one to five sentence capsule review of ten films of your choice. Y'all can get me to suffer a Serbian Film.
or:
- a personalized 2 1/2 to 3 minute song on soundcloud (As a musician, I can play a mean belly. Along with triangle and spoons. Oh and drums and guitar, I guess) about whatever movie-related topic you like, from The Shining to Dino de Laurentiis to Tom Hardy's Obsession with Dogs.

Bruh, you really must like my writing and/or dumb videos if you pledge this much. That's like the full price of a movie ticket these days, give or take a 3 bucks.

I don't see why I shouldn't give you your money's worth for covering for me like this and post a full-length minimum 900 word review of a movie of your choice (as well as all the other rewards for pledges of $1 to $5), certainly dedicated to you, you immortal soul.

Obviously, this will include all the rewards from $1 to $5. Let's just assume those rewards come for any other pledges.

Got a Favorite Director, Actor, Producer, Costume Designer, Composer, Editor, Cinematographer, anybody really notable in film that has made their mark? Shoot him at me and I'll make a retrospective for his or her work for you - either all of their work if their filmography amounts to 10 or less movies or a review of the films with the highlights of their career if they have more or just an outright historical summary essay.

Got a favorite movie? I'm not gonna write about that movie. There is no better way to light a fire under my ass to get back on that YouTube page than sheer obligation and I will make and dedicate a video essay about your favorite movie to you.

And of course that is in addition to the rewards for $1, $3, and $5.

OK. You're in charge here, man. Like you're literally backing this blog up and I give myself over to you.

Among the other rewards for $1 to $5, you tell me what movie you want me to review. Every. Month. For as long as you pledge this until you decide "Nah...". You get to tell me one movie to watch and review per month.
