Thanks for checking in; I'm Craig Bogart, writer, cartoonist, comic book self-publisher.  I've been producing my own comics for over twenty years, and started my long running series "The Ineffables" in 2001.  I've made numerous comics of my own and contributions to various anthologies, and several different one-shots and series' over the time I've practiced as an artist.  I have been a member of the Columbus, Ohio-based collective of comic artists known as PANEL, to which I contributed many projects while that group was active, and in 2016 my work was named one of Columbus' Top 25 Comics by Columbus Alive.  I've also picked up a few awards at the midwest's largest small press comic show, SPACE (Small Press & Alternative Comics Expo), over the years, including a nomination for Dave Sim's Eugene Day Prize.

I've had a blast telling my stories and working alongside other artists who have inspired me, and hearing from people who have appreciated my work.  I have never suffered under the illusion that drawing comics would be the key to prosperity and a life of comfort, but I've felt priviledged to be able to express my creativity and hopefully share some of the sense of wonder I picked up from the pages of the books I enjoyed leading up to the beginning of my own creative pursuits.

The primary goal of my endeavor has always been to get my work into as many hands as possible.  Besides the small press-friendly comic stores I'm lucky enough to have nearby, the primary vehicle for that has been appearances at comic book conventions.  I'm grateful to have a few small press themed shows within driving distance each year (such as the aforementioned SPACE), but I have always hoped to find a means of reaching a wider audience on a more consistent basis.  Recently, a musician friend became a creator on Patreon, making me aware of the possiblilities to be found here.  A way to connect directly with those that have followed my work without having to simply hope I catch them at the next comic show, an impetus to keep my own work coming at a steady rate rather than plotting a project or two around certain shows each year, and a way to spread the word to newcomers about what I do without the hurdles of weekend table rates and hotel fees.  And maybe, just maybe, the prospect that my creativity could pay off well enough to do a little more than buy the next set of pens and paper.

I have always valued the support, encouragement, and feedback of those that have enjoyed "The Ineffables" and other projects of mine over the years, as well as those that pick up one of my books for the first time.  I hope you'll be willing to join me in this next step as I embark on a more direct relationship with my readers, asking for your support and offering much more of the work I hope you have always enjoyed.  You'll find several different ways to engage with the creativity I have to offer, each with it's own set of rewards, from access to my newest works through this site, to downloadable pdf's of complete books, to actual physical collections of comics and original commissioned art.  You'll also be occasionally privy to my thoughts about my own creative process, the self-publishing experience, other artists I enjoy and comics in general.
Tiers
New Comics!
$1 or more per month 3 patrons
Access to 8-12 pages of online comics produced each month, a complete self-contained story every 60 days.  These will take the form of new episodes of my long-running "Ineffables" comic series, or the newer "Cosmo-Simian" adventures, or even new concepts as they make their way from my mind to the page, including the occasional self-contained short story.  All of this will be made available to be read by subscribers each month at a time, beginning in April of 2018.

I will also post the occasional message or video for subscribers who are dying to hear my thoughts on my own creative process, comics in general, anecdotes from the convention floor, or anything remotely relevant which happens to cross my mind.

Ebook editions
$3 or more per month 3 patrons
Subscribers to this tier will receive the comics produced for the first tier complete in pdf format, with new cover art not seen in the online form, available for download to be kept in your personal collection.  In addition, they will also see all new material available in the first tier as it is produced.
Collected Editions
$6 or more per month 4 of 750 patrons
Once each year, I will publish a collected edition of all the comics created through the Patreon that you can hold in your very own hands!  Full color cover and delivered directly to your door, personalized with a signature and unique sketch on the title page.  Available for those who have contributed at this level for at least six months.  The first of these editions will be produced in the spring of 2019.  Subscribers to this tier also receive the benefits of the first two levels.
Commissions #1
$15 or more per month 1 of 20 patrons
Contributors at this level will receive all the above listed benefits as well as a character commission of their choice from any of the comic series' or stories that I have drawn under the banner of Mystery City Comics.  All artwork will be on 11 X 17 bristol in pencil & ink, complete with backgrounds, and can be personalized upon request.  Available for those who have contributed at this level for six months, twice yearly.  (Please allow 4-6 weeks for completion and delivery!)
Commissions #2
$25 or more per month 1 of 15 patrons
Contributors at this level will receive all the benefits of the first three tiers as well as a character commission of any comic book character of their choice, not limited to those seen in Mystery City Comics.  All artwork will be on 11 X 17 bristol in pencil & ink, complete with backgrounds, and can be personalized upon request.  Available for those who have contributed at this level for six months, twice yearly.  (Please allow 4-6 weeks for completion and delivery!)
The 24-Hour Comic original copy
$250 or more per month 0 of 1 patrons
I'm creating a separate tier for any patron who may wish to purchase the actual physical copy of the 24-hour comic, the DC Superman Blank edition comprised of 24 pages of original artwork.  (the pdf of the entire comic is available to anyone, not just patrons, further down the page.)  Patreon isn't really geared for 1-time purchases, so it will be structured as follows: signing up for the tier (limited to 1 patron) will reserve the book for you until the payment is processed at the end of the month.  After that goes through, I'll eliminate the tier level so the buyer would not be charged again the following month and the supporter could then resume their usual level of patronage.  Again, there is only one of these books available.
Goals
$68 of $300 per month
My immediate, short-term goal: earn enough to make the switch from pen & paper to creating my art digitally.  An artist friend of mine is crazy about the Ipad Pro he picked up a month or so ago, so I'm making that my first goal.  Beyond that, I'd like to be able to cover table fees and travel expenses related to the shows at which I exhibit.
