Introduction
Hi! I'm Nicole DeGennaro, a writer of mostly speculative fiction. Although I've been writing for awhile now, I've decided I want to put my work out there more. I've had several short stories published in anthologies, and I routinely work on an illustrated short story collection with several of my friends. I would like to dedicate more time and energy to writing, and I'm hoping an interested and dedicated audience will help motivate me!

Details
Currently my friends and I are working on another short story collection in the 3-4-1 series. In addition to that, I have a YA fantasy novel I wrote for NaNoWriMo several years ago that I would like to begin truly editing and polishing into something I could query to agents. While those are the major projects on the horizon, I have no shortage of ideas--large and small--for additional stories. I tend to stay in the realms of horror (psychological, mostly), science fiction, and fantasy, which I group under the umbrella of speculative fiction. Within that, I usually focus more on character-driven elements, and often the conflict is an internal rather than an external one. My main characters are mostly women or nonbinary, and I like to explore themes of self-worth, loneliness, and belonging, and generally favor strong friendships over romances.

Purpose
My Patreon is a bit of an experiment. I don't think you need an audience to write, but I also think it can be nice to know when others are interested and rooting for you. We can't always be fonts of self-motivation. I'm hoping the tiers will offer something interesting to those who want to give monetary support, and that knowing I have supporters to be accountable to will help me dedicate more time to writing.

Currently, any funds raised by this Patreon would be put toward production of the next 3-4-1 collection, allowing us to perhaps pay the artists more per illustration, pay our copy editor more, or increase the quality of the final anthology in other ways. It would also allow me to resume my book review videos, OWL Reviews, on YouTube.
