About

Hey there, Force fans! After wildly successful Kickstarter campaigns in 2014 and 2015, the Nintendo Force made the leap here to Patreon in 2016! This is the place where fans have the chance to sign up and get new, Nintendo-focused magazines coming to your mailbox (or email inbox). It's time to join the Force of Nintendo fans! Subscribe to NF Magazine by becoming a patron on this page!

Here's some background info for you. Back in December 2012, Nintendo Power Magazine shipped its final issue. That got a lot of long-time Nintendo fans upset, as NP had been the one consistent and reliable print magazine covering Nintendo video games ever since the '80s. Some of us had been subscribers for over two decades, and there were still tens of thousands of active subscribers getting new issues delivered in the mail up until that final issue.

Well, we didn't want to see that legacy die. So we assembled a dream team of the most well-known Nintendo journalists from around the world and launched a new magazine four years ago! The first issue went on sale on January 11, 2013, exactly one month after Nintendo Power ended.

NF Magazine is not Nintendo Power, but we're carrying its torch forward into the future by paying homage to the best parts of NP's past while forging a new identity with an all-new team. So join the Force! Subscribe to NF Magazine by becoming a patron here on Patreon, and get all-new Nintendo magazines coming to your mailbox, your email inbox or directly to your digital reading device of choice!

(Note for adults: Being an adult stinks when it comes to checking your mail. Nothing but bills, ads and piles of unsolicited coupons you'll never use in there. But for just a few bucks invested here, checking your mailbox can become an exciting, nostalgic experience once again! NF isn't just a magazine – it's an adult life morale booster.)

This page isn't like other Patreon pages! Most Patreon creators charge your credit card every month. We don't do that. Here, you'll only see a charge pop up after we release a new issue – which happens every two months. We're bi-monthly. Six new issues per year, if you want to think of it that way! So become an NF patron with confidence!

The 49th edition of NF is in the works now, and it's set to shine the spotlight on Nintendo's big November release: Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity! It will be the third time the Hyrule Warriors series has scored the cover spot for an NF issue, but the theme will be an all-new one: Peanut Butter & Chocolate! Just like Hyrule Warriors fuses together the Musou gameplay style of the Dynasty Warriors series with the setting of The Legend of Zelda franchise, we'll be looking at a variety of other mash-ups that take two separate great things and somehow manage to create something even more amazing when they're smooshed together!

In order to get on the first mailing list for this issue, you need to be signed up as a patron here before Monday, October 19, 2020 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time. Click that "Join" button above on this page with the pledge tier of your choice, then get ready for your magazine to arrive!

As always, print copies of NF #49 will ship with a bonus wall poster included in the package as well. For this issue, we're of course bringing you the incredible key art from Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, as well as a retro throwback reverse side featuring art from Super Mario Galaxy! (Because it just got re-released on Switch, you know!) Don't miss hanging one or both of these extra-large, supersized posters on your wall!

The Super Mario celebration we’d originally planned to present in NF #47 hit a snag when Paper Mario cut in with his Origami King announcement while work was already in progress, and convinced us to change directions! But the major Mario milestone we were looking ahead to was still looming just over the horizon: The original Super Mario Bros. game turns 35 years old in September! So, come to think of it, it made more sense for us to celebrate that big birthday in the September issue any way. We were just jumping the gun when we thought we’d cover it in July!

So our look back at 35 years of Super Mario Bros. series history appears in this edition, as well as reviews of the new LEGO Super Mario and Paper Mario: The Origami King. We also get caught up on things that didn’t quite make the cut for #47, like the latest Pokémon news, the conclusion of our review of Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, our evaluation of Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics and much, much more!

In order to get on the first mailing list for this issue, you needed to be signed up as a patron here before Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. Eastern time. If you signed up after that, don't worry! You can still get a copy by placing an order for one through the website store at NFMagazine.com.

As always, a double-sided wall poster accompanies the printed editions of this issue. One side duplicates the double homage to the American "black box" of Super Mario Bros. seen on the front cover just above, while the other is below: the classic Japanese box art for the original Super Mario Bros., mega-sized and waiting to be hung in a place of honor in your home!

Surprise! While rumors strongly suggested Nintendo's next major Mario announcement would reveal remasters of several past Super Mario adventures, it was actually Paper Mario that cut in line with fresh news first! The all-new Paper Mario: The Origami King is hitting the Switch on July 17, and before it hits store shelves, the NF team made sure a Paper Mario-themed July/August edition hit our patrons' mailboxes!

Inside you'll find a full history of the Paper Mario series so far, a spotlight on all of the past partner characters in each of the past games, our full reviews of Bug Fables and Indivisible (two new indie games strongly influenced by Paper Mario's past), a Character Profile of Paper Peach and more timely content all ready to prepare you for the Origami King's invasion. And you can expect, as always, all-new previews, reviews, comics and more!

In order to get on the first mailing list for this issue, you needed to be signed up as a patron here before Monday, June 22, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. Eastern time. If you signed up after that, don't worry! You can still get a copy by placing an order for one through the website store at NFMagazine.com.

Surprise again! We included a brand-new bonus item with this NF edition: an exclusive Origami Peach papercraft toy! Designed by Alex Gwynne of Fold Up Toys, this Peach is a simple-to-assemble re-creation of the in-game character model of the paper princess from the new game. It'll only take a few steps to put together, and the finished product will look great sitting on your desk or shelf!

Furthermore! This issue has also shipped with a double-sided wall poster, as usual. The dimensions for this one were tweaked to be 16 inches by 20 inches in order to perfectly fit in standard poster frames. (By patron request.) You'll get the key art from Paper Mario: The Origami King on one side, but if you don't care for the "modern" Paper Mario era, we've got you covered, too! The reverse side features art from Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door!

It's a jam-packed Paper Mario package! Don't miss it!

One of the greatest JRPGs of the Wii era – well, who am I kidding, one of the greatest JRPGs of all eras – is being reborn on the Nintendo Switch. The arrival of Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition is looming larger than the imposing presence of the Mechonis in the distance, and we're going to dive back into that incredible world created by Monolith Soft and prepare the way for fans old and new to get hyped for Shulk's famous adventure.

Then, taking our cue from his famous multi-functional sword the Monado, we'll also count down the all-time best swords from throughout video game history, as well as debut a new article series that looks back on retro classics that have never been revisited after their original releases. We've also got an exclusive interview with Jonathan Lavigne of Tribute Games, who's been kind enough to supply us with some killer wall poster art from the upcoming Panzer Paladin! (See below.)

In order to get on the first mailing list for this issue, you needed to be signed up as a patron here before Monday, April 20, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. Eastern time. If you signed up after that, don't worry! You can still get a copy by placing an order for one through the website store at NFMagazine.com.

As always, print copies of NF #46 will ship with a double-sided wall poster! This time around you'll get the original key art from Xenoblade Chronicles on one side (printed clean, with no logos or anything obscuring the epic image of the Monado and the Mechonis), and on the reverse is the never-before-seen Panzer Paladin art mentioned above. Lookin' sharp!

Becoming a patron through this Patreon page is the way to subscribe and receive future issues of NF Magazine! If you're just now finding out about the Nintendo Force and want to get caught up on some of what you've missed over the past few years, our previous issues are available for sale through the website store at NFMagazine.com. Keep an eye out for sales and bundle deals there from time to time!

Goals
4,431 of 4,500 patrons
Let's shoot for the next milestone together! If we surpass 4500 patrons, we'll add an extra wall poster to not one, but two upcoming issues, and we'll let our patrons choose what both of them will be! Do you want more official artwork? More original works from our NF artists? A full set of pixel-perfect maps depicting the entire range of mountains from 1985's Ice Climber? All options will be on the table, and the patrons will decide!
