About The Nintendo Force

Hey there, Force fans! After wildly successful Kickstarter campaigns in 2014 and 2015, the Nintendo Force made the leap here to Patreon in 2016! This is the place where fans have the chance to sign up and get new, Nintendo-focused magazines coming to your mailbox (or email inbox). It's time to join the Force of Nintendo fans! Subscribe to NF Magazine by becoming a patron on this page!

Here's some background info for you. Back in December 2012, Nintendo Power Magazine shipped its final issue. That got a lot of long-time Nintendo fans upset, as NP had been the one consistent and reliable print magazine covering Nintendo video games ever since the '80s. Some of us had been subscribers for over two decades, and there were still tens of thousands of active subscribers getting new issues delivered in the mail up until that final issue.

Well, we didn't want to see that legacy die. So we assembled a dream team of the most well-known Nintendo journalists from around the world and launched a new magazine four years ago! The first issue went on sale on January 11, 2013, exactly one month after Nintendo Power ended.

NF Magazine is not Nintendo Power, but we're carrying its torch forward into the future by paying homage to the best parts of NP's past while forging a new identity with an all-new team. So join the Force! Subscribe to NF Magazine by becoming a patron here on Patreon, and get all-new Nintendo magazines coming to your mailbox, your email inbox or directly to your digital reading device of choice!

(Note for adults: Being an adult stinks when it comes to checking your mail. Nothing but bills, ads and piles of unsolicited coupons you'll never use in there. But for just a few bucks invested here, checking your mailbox can become an exciting, nostalgic experience once again! NF isn't just a magazine – it's an adult life morale booster.)

This page isn't like other Patreon pages! Most Patreon creators charge your credit card every month. We don't do that. Here, you'll only see a charge pop up after we release a new issue – which happens every two months. We're bi-monthly. Six new issues per year, if you want to think of it that way! So become an NF patron with confidence!

Yes, it's true! As Arlo himself explains in the opening moments of the video posted just below, NF Magazine is proud to now have YouTube's bluest, fuzziest Nintendo-addicted content creator as a member of our team! Every new issue of NF (beginning with Issue #30) features a fresh installment of "Arlo's Headcanon" – a totally wild, totally off-the-wall and totally Arlo-ish fan fiction tale starring Nintendo's crazy cast of characters. It's Arlo-made content you can only get right here, so become a patron on this page and don't miss a single installment!

And if you haven't already done so, you should also become a patron of Arlo's own Patreon page at Patreon.com/ArloStuff. Huzzah!

It's nearly time for the next generation of Pokémon! As usual, absolutely every Pokémon fan is totally hyped and happy – everyone is perfectly united in looking forward to this new pair of games, with no complaints!

. . . Yeah, about that. Truthfully, controversy has struck this series like never before, and we'll be wading straight into the debate in NF Magazine's "Issue #43: Division in the Ranks – November/December 2019!" See where the NF team stands in relation to this divisive topic!

And since it's a Pokémon issue, we're doing again what we've done twice before – first for X & Y six years ago, then again for Sun & Moon three years ago – a dual-sided flippable cover featuring the box Legendaries! Zacian grips his blade to represent Pokémon Sword on one side, while Zamazenta dares anyone to test his defense while repping Pokémon Shield on the other.

In order to get on the mailing list for this issue, you need to click that Become a Patron button and select your pledge tier before Monday, October 28 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern. Don't miss out!

As always, print copies of our issues ship to subscribers' mailboxes with double-sided wall posters included! This time we'll have a full map of Pokémon Sword & Shield's new Galar region on one side, then the key art from Game Freak's new non-Pokémon game, Little Town Hero, on the reverse!

It's time to get into the Halloween spirit! For the first time ever, NF is breaking from our bi-monthly publishing tradition in order to present a specific October 2019 edition. Since Nintendo decided to schedule the release of Luigi's Mansion 3 exactly on October 31, how could we pass up the opportunity?

That's the game that will claim the cover spot for the issue, which we're naming "Family-Friendly Frights." Nintendo's mostly still thought of as publishing games that are good for all ages to enjoy . . . but that hasn't stopped them from inserting some scary moments into otherwise happy and smiley adventures over the years! We'll also take a look at some of the best costumes in Big N history. Because what's Halloween without playing dress-up?

In order to get on the first mailing list for this issue, you needed to be signed up as a patron here before Sunday, September 22, 2019 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time. If you signed up after that, don't worry! You can still get a copy by placing an order for one through the website store at NFMagazine.com.

As always, print copies of our issues ship to subscribers' mailboxes with double-sided wall posters included! This time we'll have the new dynamic duo of Luigi and Gooigi representing Luigi's Mansion 3 on one side, while the reverse will be key art from the recently released (and very Halloween-appropriate) Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.

It’s the newest playable character in Smash! A warrior so recognized, so renowned the world over that he needs no name – he is, simply, The Hero! And . . . uh, well . . . who exactly is he, again?

There’s certainly been a bit of inequality in hype levels regarding this guy, as fans in Japan are crying tears of joy at his inclusion in the Super Smash roster, while players in the West reacted to his reveal with a collective “Huh?”. So, in our next issue of NF Magazine, we’re going to shed a little light on The Luminary. We’ll tackle the topic of why the Dragon Quest series has struggled to gain real traction outside of Japan, reviewing the history of the brand in the West. Then we’ll bring you our review of Dragon Quest Builders 2, our final preview of Dragon Quest XI S and maybe even put this Hero here through his paces in a few Smash battles, too! (Plus all our regular non-DQ content as well. We haven’t been totally Slimed!)

In order to get on the first mailing list for this issue, you needed to be signed up as a patron here before Sunday, August 18, 2019 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time. If you signed up after that, don't worry! You can still get a copy by placing an order for one through the website store at NFMagazine.com.

New for this issue, we're tweaking our standard front cover template a bit! We're shifting the position of our iconic NF logo over to the left, which helps us give a larger display area to great artwork, like the majestic painting of the legendary Yggdrasil tree that serves as the central focus of Dragon Quest XI S!

Also a part of this issue: two famous faces from the world of YouTube! Friend of the Force Shesez (of Boundary Break fame) is hopping in as the reviewer for the new Dragon Quest Builders 2. And AbdallahSmash026, whom you might have recently seen on stage taking home the victory in the Super Mario Maker 2 Invitational at E3, is our featured Interview subject for this edition!

As always, print copies of our issues ship to subscribers' mailboxes with double-sided wall posters included! This time we've got the world map of Dragon Quest XI S on one side (originally offered only as a pack-in with the Collector's Edition of the PS4 version of the game), and on the reverse it's the cutest little Link that you ever did see!

Our milestone 40th release is complete! And it just so happens that Nintendo was kind enough to offer us a timely callback. The very first NF issue had Fire Emblem Awakening on its cover, way back in January 2013. And all lined up for our July/August 2019 issue is Fire Emblem: Three Houses! It's like we're coming full circle.

The front cover of this issue echoes the art you'll find on the game's retail packaging, but with one critical difference: Claude is actually rightside-up!

In order to get on the first mailing list for this issue, you needed to be signed up as a patron here before Monday, June 24, 2019 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time. If you signed up after that, don't worry! You can still get a copy by placing an order for one through the website store at NFMagazine.com.

As always, print copies of this issue will ship to your mailbox with a double-sided wall poster included as well. On the front side, a scenic look at the main characters and the Officer's Academy from Fire Emblem: Three Houses – not the same art as on the issue's cover, but rather the art found on the Japanese Collector's Edition of the game. Then, on the reverse, it's Astral Chain! Pick your favorite side and hang it with pride!

Here are the members of the Nintendo Force! No matter what corner of the Nintendo fandom you call home, chances are good you're familiar with one or more of the faces or names seen here.

Beyond the team members pictured above, several more have helped make NF Magazine a reality – especially all of our subscribers!

Becoming a patron through this Patreon page is the way to subscribe and receive future issues of NF Magazine! If you're just now finding out about the Nintendo Force and want to get caught up on some of what you've missed over the past few years, our previous issues are available for sale through the website store at NFMagazine.com. Keep an eye out for sales and bundle deals there from time to time!

Goals
4412 of 4500 patrons
Let's shoot for the next milestone together! If we surpass 4500 patrons, we'll add an extra wall poster to not one, but two upcoming issues, and we'll let our patrons choose what both of them will be! Do you want more official artwork? More original works from our NF artists? A full set of pixel-perfect maps depicting the entire range of mountains from 1985's Ice Climber? All options will be on the table, and the patrons will decide!
