About Obsidian Tea

No matter how you stumbled upon this Patreon welcome! My name is Grey and I’m the creator of Obsidian Tea.

Don’t click away! I’ll be quick.

Patreon is a platform I use to connect with readers of Obsidian Tea. It works like this. You sign up for a monthly (or one time coming soon) fee, and you get extras, early content, and the warm fuzzies of supporting a culture nerd in his goal to make conversations around race easier. Join us for works in progress, existential crises, and a group of folks trying to impact the world!

Want more?

My name is Grey and I’m a 20-something who has stumbled headfirst into education around race and culture. A long way away from my goal of owning a restaurant from high school eh? What started as a side project to stop answering reoccurring questions in my dance classes (where I teach Black dances), has blossomed into a journey into DEI, Cultural competency, and anti-racism.
So naturally, I approach these conversations from a very different angle. By leaning on a lot of life experience, study, and a degree in communication, I tackle race/culture conversation in a compassionate and down-to-earth way with a focus on actionable steps. By joining the Obsidian Tea on Patreon you not only get to be a part of this work but also get cool perks. Patreon is a subscription service that gets you access to our exclusive content. Those who support help the site continue, research materials, office supplies, Tech, and donating towards the emotional labor behind the work, and so much more! Things like early access, Q and A, Topic Suggestions, and more!

I'll hire 1 or 2 people to translate the more popular blog posts to other languages, possibly getting closed captions. I'll be able to set aside money to build up the obsidian library creating even better research.

I may be able to hire an editor for larger posts.
