WHAT IS ONE MILLION WOMEN WALKING?
One Million Women Walking (1MWW) is a transformational women’s health movement. I founded 1MWW after walking literally saved my life during my darkest years. My life-saving experience led me to learn how and why daily walking transforms our bodies, minds, spirits, and ultimately our lives. Having fully realized the incredible power of walking, I felt called to share it with every woman I could.

1MWW IS FOR WOMEN WHO:
  • Are sick of fad diets and workouts.
  • Want a way to exercise every day despite what their day might bring.
  • Want to workout but don’t have the time.
  • Are looking for an easy, doable, scientifically-proven, doctor recommended way to get the exercise they want.

  • Want inspiration, accountability, support, and community to help them achieve their health and wellness goals.
  • Are ready to step away from the chaos of the health and wellness industry and into their own knowing and power.

The 1MWW idea is simple: walking is the ultimate way for women like us to care for ourSelves (bodies, minds, and spirits) every day so let's walk together. My vision for 1MWW is to create the biggest global community of walking women on the planet.
The 1MWW movement is founded in the innate power of women connecting. When women deliberately connect to learn, experience, support, and share, we create community and transform ourSelves and our lives. That’s powerful.
We can’t all walk together in real life but we can walk together virtually here on Patreon, the virtual home of the 1MWW Movement.

WHO IS LAURA BOULAY AND WHY DID SHE DO THIS?
The mission of 1MWW is to empower 1,000,000 women to transform their lives by simply walking. Author, speaker, photographer, and devoted daily walker Laura Boulay set this audacious goal after walking saved her life during a lengthy life crisis. Boulay, an avid researcher, self-proclaimed data-geek, and strategic planner, started gathering information on the benefits of walking for women as a way to understand her own walking transformation. As time and miles passed (Boulay walked over 3,000 miles during the challenging years that brought 1MWW to life), she distilled this knowledge into the 1MWW movement by developing a basic 3-step Walking Practice for members to follow. Boulay’s criteria for the 1MWW Walking Practice was that it had to be simple, doable, and highly effective, “Something that a woman could look at, understand, and put into action in a matter of minutes. Women are too busy, too overwhelmed with their endless TO DO list to add anything complicated or time consuming—no matter how beneficial it may be. I wanted to keep the 1MWW Walking Practice simple, understandable, and immediate. And I want membership to cost next to nothing because walking itself is free. That’s the whole point of this movement—women realizing the power of walking, becoming daily walkers, and spreading the word.”

When we reach 100 members, we'll start working on creating the 1MWW Chapters--groups of women walking together IRL and as structured virtual groups! I'm super excited about this! 1MWW Chapters will create accountability plus group support plus a shared group experience. What could be better?
