    About PARC MEDIA

In 2017, two long-time antiwar activists and combat veterans, Sergio Kochergin and Vince Emanuele opened PARC | Politics Art Roots Culture, a community-cultural center located in the small Rust Belt town of Michigan City, Indiana.

For the past three and a half years, the space was used for community organizing efforts, political campaigns, documentary film screenings, guest lectures, poetry readings, live music performances, barbeques, art installations, and a wide range of social and cultural activities. Unfortunately, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, PARC has been temporarily closed to the public since early March -- a devastating blow to the community.

Soon after the pandemic hit, we converted the space into a video/audio studio. Since we can't host people face-to-face (our favorite activity), we felt the best way to use our talents, equipment, and resources was to create digital content with the aim of keeping people engaged, connected, educated, and empowered through the pandemic and beyond.

So far, it's been successful and quite fun, but we're looking to push things even further. The more time goes on, the more we've come to the conclusion that we can use this platform to help our local organizing efforts. That means more content in the short-term, and different content over the long-term.

We feel that the element separating our programming from everyone else's is the fact that we can showcase people and projects that are dealing with real-world issues in very challenging political and social environments. When the pandemic ends, we plan on showing those efforts in real-time, something virtually no other podcast or media entity is doing (as far as we know). Not only can we show you the events at PARC, but we can also show you the work of groups such as OURMC | Organized & United Residents of Michigan City and Northwest Indiana | Democratic Socialists of America.

In the end, the PARC Media project, much like the space, is a collective effort. You're as much a part of this program as we are. We appreciate questions and suggestions, input, and critique. The success of this program is directly tied to the willingness of its supporters (YOU!) to interact with each other, spread important and useful information, ideas, and opportunities. That's what it's all about! Don't mourn. Organize.

    Thanks for your support,

Even More Content! If we reach this goal, we can hire someone to help Sergio with video and audio production/editing, which would allow for more content, including short films, special programming, and more book reviews with authors and organizers.
