Who am I?
I'm Kerry (they/them), an LGBTQIA+ creative activist, postgraduate Counselling and Psychotherapy student and a soon(ish) to be foster carer based in Edinburgh, Scotland. I work under the name Positive Change Arts Projects (PCAP), a creative initiative driven by my personal experiences of prejudice, discrimination, social exclusion and social injustice.

What do I do?
In addition to the PCAP projects outlined below, I can often be found getting involved in creative shenanigans, volunteering and/or collaborating with multiple community groups, local businesses and non-profit organisations. This can be anything from having a stall promoting PCAP and my wildly talented community based collaborators, to appearing on panels with local champions of change and soon you will catch me making a cheeky appearance on screen - keep an eye out for 'These Thems' later this year!

In 2019, I have already participated in voluntary work and/or collaborated with the Edinburgh University Staff Pride Network, EUSA (Edinburgh University Students' Association), Lighthouse Bookshop, Non-Binary Edinburgh, NUS (National Union of Students), PrideSoc, Scottish Bi+ Network, Stonewall Scotland, Scottish Trans Alliance, Trans Pride Scotland and UCU (University and Colleges Union). Most recently, I have taken an ongoing voluntary position on the SNP (Scottish National Party) Trans and Non-Binary People's Working Group, where we are working to bust myths around the current anti-trans media rhetoric.

What will the money be used for?
The money will be used to cover the costs of my website, cloud storage, equipment, creative materials, travel and other associated costs. The money will allow me to provide services such as running the ‘I am…’ workshop to unfunded community groups, allow me to respond to press requests and participate on unpaid panels without financial loss.

Current Projects
'I am...' Workshop
In this workshop I provide a supportive and nurturing environment for attendees to creatively explore who they are. With the aid of art and crafts materials, attendees are invited to shed any unwanted or enforced labels and to use language and images of their own choosing to express their own ‘I am…’.

Attendees of the ‘I am…’ workshop have typically struggled to find appropriate support in the wider community and are often, but not restricted to, members of underrepresented minority groups and/or survivors of abuse and rape.

I Have a Que(e)ry
'I Have a Que(e)ry' is a live panel event and webseries (currently in development) exploring the relationship between media representation and the mental health and wellbeing of LGBTQIA+ individuals and communities.

Previous panel events include 'I Have a Que(e)ry About Non-Binary Representation' and 'I Have a Que(e)ry About Bisexual Representation'. The next panel is 'I Have a Que(e)ry About Trans-Feminine Representation'. In November 2018, thanks to the support of Edinburgh's LGBTQIA+ community and our allies, the Non-Binary panel travelled to London appearing as part of the world's largest multinational LGBTQ+ women and allies media event.

I created 'I Have a Que(e)ry' in early 2018 and currently hold multiple roles that include project managing, stage managing, interviewing amazing creatives and the less glamorous part of cleaning tables at the end of an event. This project is made possible by collaborating with local academics, activists, artists and community groups. At present this is a completely volunteer led venture.

My Body. My Choice.
Like me, this project is a work in progress. I am working to visually explore and navigate the intersections of being a survivor of abuse and rape, while holding multiple marginalised identities.
