Palaver Strings is redefining the role of a classical music ensemble in its home community. As a musician led string orchestra, Palaver is driven by collaborative processes, through which its Co-Artistic Directors share musical and administrative leadership. While each member of the ensemble brings unique experiences to the table, they share a passion for taking classical music beyond the concert hall to engage with new and diverse audiences. In these personal, unconventional settings, Palaver strives to use music to address social issues, promote education and healing, and inspire peers and community to support the arts.

Highlights from this past season include a concert showcasing the stories and songs of immigrant communities in Boston, a yearlong chamber music program at Bridge Boston Charter School, and our first performances and workshops on the west coast. In Season 5, we will continue existing initiatives, including LifeSongs, the Lullaby Project, and our residencies at Boston Medical Center and Boston Center for the Arts. We also look forward to new partnerships in Portland, ME with The Opportunity Alliance, the Bayside and Parkside Head Start programs, and Youth and Family Outreach. These programs will set the groundwork for Palaver’s community music school, set to open in fall 2019. As we grow and tackle more ambitious musical projects, we seek to clarify and deepen our commitment to our local communities.

In order to do this sustainably, we need your help! Since we first launched our Patreon campaign in 2016, your monthly contributions have helped pay musicians for their time spent performing and teaching, while keeping costs low for our audiences, students, and workshop participants. If you can support our season with a small monthly donation of $2-$25, we will thank you with live recordings from our concerts, a Palaver Podcast, a package of Palaver-style stationery, and access to a surprise reward for high donors. See the details to the right to choose the reward level that’s right for you, and thank you so much for your support of Palaver Strings!

Palaver Strings, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
