About

I'm a birthday party princess, but I also have a BFA in comic book art and wrote a graphic novel series called Bizenghast.  In my spare time, I like to eat chinese food and argue with my cats.

Hey there!

Thanks so much for checking me out!

Summary: I'm Marty and I work as a princess character entertainer.  I entertain at kids' birthday parties, at local events and at fundraisers, trying to bring a little magic into people's lives!  It's a fun job, with a lot of challenges that most people outside the business can't even imagine!

I also work with a ton of charities and local hospitals, paying out of my own pocket to do parties, visits and events for children in need.  Just some of the organizations I work with are:

The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia
St. Christopher's Hospital for Children
The Eliza Shirley Homeless Shelter
The Make-a-Wish Foundation

...and more!

I've been interviewed on NPR, The Huffington Post and lots of other places about my princess work, and I'd like to now start a Patreon blog to share everything I do with you!  I'm also an illustrator, so my blog posts and updates often include silly drawings about my work.  To see my patron-supported content, check out my blog: http://birthdaypartyprincess.tumblr.com/

Even though I love this job, it just doesn't pay the bills.  Princess work comes and goes during the year, according to demand, and I have to compete with lots of other girls at my business to get gigs!  I also use my own costumes, which I pay for, make and maintain out of my own funds.

Your support for this Patreon project will DIRECTLY fund my ability to do more charity work for children in shelters or in the long-term care and cancer wards of local hospitals, as well as contribute to the upkeep of my costumes, replacement parts and pieces, etc.

My goal with Patreon is to extend what I do onto the web, entertaining viewers with anecdotes, stories about the job, the backlash against princess culture, threats from copyright lawsuits, changing inside your car between gigs, weirdos on the job, kids who grind cake slices into your hair, and basically all the other stuff that makes it just another day at work for me.  With your support, I can release new and entertaining videos, posts, art and commentary on a regular basis, as well as fund more charity visits for children in need.  All of this will be available on my princess blog, http://birthdaypartyprincess.tumblr.com/.

Support for this blog will help me continue doing what I love for a living, paying the bills while I produce content and videos, as well as take entertaining gigs for children, visiting hospitals and making the world a little sunnier for our small friends!

Although I've been mentioned a lot recently in media, and I've kept another blog about my job, that doesn't really translate to any kind of income.  Princessing, as I said, pays very little and I often depend almost entirely on tips to make a gig worth it.  I sometimes have to turn down princess work in favor of a private art commission that I know will earn me just a bit more money.  Your pledge per post will mean an awful lot to me and you'll be supporting not just this blog, but also my ability to make time for children's hospital charity visits and other charity functions.  These visits are 100% charity and paid for from our own pockets, and as much as I love to do them, without your support, I sometimes have to turn some of them down in favor of other work that will help pay the rent.

If you want to become a patron of mine, you can chose one of the pledge levels below!  Every time new content is created, that amount will be paid towards me from you.  I promise not to go above 10 posts a month, or one post every other day, so you'll always know the maximum amount of posts that will be created!  If you pledge 1 dollar, then you will be billed for only 10 dollars if there are 10 posts that month!  If there are 7 posts, you'll be billed for 7 dollars, and so on!  I will usually keep posts between 5 and 7 a month and never over 10.

Patrons also have access to the Patron-only section of my blog, which is a little community where I can talk one on one with blog followers, post patron-only content, videos and tutorials and have a special feed just for those who support this blog!  I'm really excited to be able to get involved with the patron community and find new and fun ways to create rewards for your support and generosity!

Remember, you can ALWAYS change your pledge amount if you want to donate more or less that month!  It's easy and fast to do!  You can even set a cap on how much you want to spend each month, so no matter how many posts I make, you won't go over your preferred limit!

And if you have to leave and can no longer be a patron, you can stop pledging any time! I understand completely and I'm super grateful for all you've been able to do!

Just a little bit from you will add up to help me support my passion and help fund charity visits and promotions in my area.  There's no need for you to pledge at all...you're free to read this blog and enjoy it without donating! But if you want to support my work, I'd be absolutely thrilled if you did!

Thank you all SO MUCH, I really appreciate your kindness and generosity in this endeavor!
