Thank you for visiting our Patreon page!
The Roanoke Valley Children's Choir is a choir for kids ages 7-18, located in Salem, VA. Singing together since 1987! We strive to teach children about beautiful music, excellence, and working together, while creating lasting bonds of friendship and accomplishment. We operate as a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization.
The RVCC consists of about 230 children ages 7-18 from across the Roanoke Valley. There are four choirs:
- A Choir (7-9 yrs old)
- B Choir (8-11 yrs old)
- B+ Choir (9-14 yrs old)
- C Choir (12-18 yrs old)
All the choirs meet on Mondays to rehearse. There are many opportunities for these young children to sing. There are two main concerts every year, in spring and winter. These are professionally sung and produced concerts, where you might be amazed at how beautiful these children sound when singing together, as one!
There are various other singing opportunities in the choir. The A, B, B+ choirs travel to Williamsburg, Virginia every spring to sing in a competition at Busch Gardens. We don't want to brag, but they get superior scores all the time! The choir visits Busch Gardens and Colonial Williamsburg while there. It's a fun trip!
The C Choir, also known as the "Concert Choir", has reached levels of achievement that we are so proud of! They have sung at the National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in Washington D.C, in Carnegie Hall in New York, and have been a featured choir at the National ACDA Convention in Salt Lake City, Utah. Among the places the C Choir has traveled are New York, Chicago, Hawaii, and England.
The RVCC takes part in local performances with the Roanoke Opera and Roanoke Symphony. A selection of children from the RVCC has sung in many opera performances. And the Concert Choir sings every year with the Roanoke Symphony at their "Holiday Pops" concert.
The RVCC hosts an annual "Community Carol Sing-A-Long" event during the holidays, where we invite anybody to come and sing holiday carols with us!
The RVCC operates as a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization. There is the founder, director, and administrator, Kim Davidson, along with one other full-time employee. There are two part-time employees as well. The rest is done by 31 parent volunteer committees, whom we appreciate so much!
The children pay tuition of approximately $300 per semester (depending on the choir they are in).
- A Choir: $550/year
- B Choir: $550/year
- B+ Choir: $575/year
- C Choir: $630/year
Some children cannot afford to pay tuition. We offer scholarships for some of these children, based off of our operating budget.
We want to be able to provide scholarships to even more children who are currently not able to be in choir because of finances.
Can you help give these children the opportunity to be a part of something that could change their lives? We truly believe that being a part of the choir can impact each child's life, make a difference in their childhood, be a bright spot of hope through music, and teach life skills that will be with them the rest of their lives.
We appreciate any support for this organization and these children! Thank you!
