Art and music rarely bring wealth. And one can never be paid, in the sense of a wage, for the countless hours of practice, late nights at gigs, arriving early, leaving late. There are the unknown hours of thinking and sometimes worrying about what you are doing. Some call it day-dreaming. But it can also mean, being half asleep and having to get up and write down ideas. It can also be lost hours and frustration trying to record musical ideas, pressing the wrong button and erasing days, weeks or months of work. It happens. It can be driving for hours, and arriving sleep-deprived, only to pack up and head off again the next day. And there is the mental and emotional toll, the vulnerability of rejection, whenever you put yourself on display. It is not for the feint-hearted. And yet so many of us are delicate creatures. For me - this is not a self-serving pursuit...it is serving a higher purpose. It's trying to reach across that spiritual, metaphysical chasm that seems to divide us all - that creates a yearning to connect to something, to someone.

That is why it is often a certain amount of sacrifice that allows artists of all kinds to share their particular brand of art with the world. That's also why many creators are forced to fit their art into something that sounds or looks like something that is perceived as popular at the time, to tip the balance towards commerciality and perhaps focus less on their own true expression. It's just the way the world works.

But having patrons of the arts, and crowdfunding platforms like this, there is a new wisdom, a new system, which means that the very album I have been protecting like a child, since I wrote some of it some 20 years ago, has the chance, with your nurturing and support, to blossom into an entity with the potential I have always hoped for.

But without enough money and timely application to this undertaking I have had to shelve the project on and off, for 2 decades now. Fortunately, I believe all good things take time. And, having turned down Record Deals, and other opportunities to reveal them, I now have Louis Tillett on board as a producer, along with some musicians who are highly prized as collaborators. And I believe in this project now, more than ever.

So my model will be
to be vulnerable, open, and sharing of my progress through updates to my patrons, including sharing songs, in their early stages, through to completion.

For your contribution I will avail you of some of the same rewards as higher level patrons...a cumulative unfolding of previews and previously recorded gems, and in the event we reach the goal of being able to afford the complete album...I will send you mp3s of the final tracks....songs written by myself, Louis Tillett, and Khanh Trieu. In the meantime...I hope you enjoy the previews, demos and sketches of songs.

For every donation of $5 or more (either as a one off or monthly), you will have direct access to a preview song/songs. There will be 12 songs over 12 months, and the odd bonus track too. They will be lo-fi, simply mixed, but complete, although most will be basic guitar and voice. So I hope you will derive some listening pleasure from them, in any case. And I will open myself to your communication...to give me feedback on how you could hear them potentially - as to instrumentation, even specific musical advice. Music is free...it is in nature...it is in a baby's cry, in a heart's beat. So let's share this experience. I don't want my music to be a commodity....I want my patrons to have input. Because it is the audience that are so key to the creator's experience and growth. And yes, of course, you will receive a copy of the album once completed, with much appreciation from me for your support, and a group credit on the liner notes.

For donations of $10 and above, (one offs & monthly) you will become a more intrinsic part of the process. As well as accessing the preview song/songs, I will also give you a highlighted, special credit you for your support on the album (with your agreement), and ensure you receive a copy of the complete album. I will also send you out a special as a special guest for the launch. And if you are prepared to commit as much to my ongoing journey as an artist, I hope you would become a friend, in music, and stay in touch on a longer term basis. It's up to you. But I would love to show my gratitude in some way.  And perhaps, I will be able to share more of my new works with you, in future, if our shared undertaking falls on fertile ground. And I would be so very happy to send you a hard copy of the first editions of this debut album.
Goals
$29 of $500 per creation
While I was originally aiming for a 12 month deadline....where an average of $500 per month would work out to around $6000 total - it would have been the requisite amount for me to undertake a High Quality Studio Recording.

BUT I am willing to take it in stages, while I am currently STILL creating new songs and working on Side Projects with Louis Tillett (who is also producing my coming album).

My initial goal of $500 has been met once already.

Now I am working towards the NEXT $500.

When I am ready to complete the project, it would be wonderful to be able to bring the parts together and "strike while the iron is hot". Being able to pay for the players up front, and the studio, with a producer right behind me, means the missing part is only to raise the capital.

Once the $6000 goal is reached I will have the confidence that I can pay everyone for the musical experiment I am now ready to undertake.

It is one thing to have the confidence to "back yourself". But when I know everything and everyone is paid for...then my personal journey can begin in putting this baby to bed.

This is a 25 year dream coming to meet it's destiny. And I feel more ready than ever! Louis Tillett, as the producer, has achieved outstanding results with his own albums, with similar budgets, and he believes I have a very special album here.

So....here goes. If you come on board, I will credit you on the album, and you will have preview copies and invitations to the launch concert, and my eternal gratitude for your encouragement and support.
