Hello, potential new friend! My name is Rae, or ravnervn, and I'm a 21 year old Brit with a penchant for writing.

So, what do I write? An excellent question, and one I'm trying to piece together myself. I'll give you the pieces, and then the whys.

I want to write to make an impact on the audience, whether that's a small emotional reaction or changing someone's life. As such, I like to focus on themes that, at least, matter to me; these include mental illness, minority experience, identity and love, all generally filtered through metaphor and imagery into something more fantastical. The idea is to eventually build up to becoming published and/or writing full-length novels, whichever comes first, but until then, my focus is tending towards short-form fiction.
It's through this filter of audience outreach that I also came to start writing LARP (Live-Action Roleplaying) scenarios. I've been focusing more on character-driven scenarios where social intrigue and high emotion are paramount, closer to a play with no script than the traditional game-like format associated with the hobby.

Onto the whys. Firstly, why Patreon? Simply put, I want to give myself tangible proof that my creations are worth creating, and a financial incentive from a base of backers will hopefully serve that purpose. I also want to have an audience who I know I can engage with and create for, since creating for people is one of my biggest passions.
As for why I'm still piecing together what I actually write: I tumbled into a depression hole about three years ago, and lost my inspiration somewhere in the gloom. Prior to that point, I'd largely been writing fanfiction for a rather small online creative community, and I hope to return to that in future. This has provided the opportunity to rework what I write, though, so it's not a total loss?
