First off! Don't worry! My videos are still free!

This is just a way to donate as you wish, if  you wish!

Mainly because equipment isn't cheap :)

And who am I??
What's up? I'm Ray FooL, nice to meet you! I make drum covers of songs and put them on YouTube. I try to post one as often as I can. In less than 2 years I've gained a good amount of views and subscribers, and in that time I've managed to put up almost 300 videos!. I started out just wanting to make videos of me playing drums on YouTube. Now that my "audience" has grown a little it makes me want to make better quality videos if possible.

Don't worry, you are NOT obligated to do anything, it's all strictly voluntary.  I will continue to post on YouTube whether i make any money or not, this is just a way to hopefully upgrade my content in some way. Hopefully if this works out, i can take ads off of my videos because I know how annoying the can be sometimes.

Let me get a little personal here for a second. My entire life, I've been against asking for help. Even when I could use it. It makes me feel uncomfortable. Turns out, that hasn't done me any good really. Everyone can use a little help now and then. So I decided to eat crow, and step out of my comfort zone and do the one thing I've been against my entire life, and that's asking for help.

Why Patreon, what is it, and why not just use Kickstarter?

Well, this is all new to me. But I'm pretty sure it goes a little something like this:
Patreon is a crowd funding-like platform for independent content creators such as myself. It's a way to support the creator by making donations or pledges. Instead of donating to something that hasn't happened yet,  you're donating towards something that's already been made. Make sense? Plus, I think with Kickstarter there are time limits and goals to reach. As this seems to be ongoing. Give as much or as little as you want a month, and you can even set a cap for your donations. Say you want to donate $1 a month, I believe you can set it to where once you hit say $8 in donations, you no longer have to worry about breaking the bank, or going over budget. So as long as I, or any other creator, make videos, there can still be donations. Right?.....right!

Where does MY money go??
As I mentioned, equipment isn't cheap. To those who may not know, drums are a very expensive "hobby". It's not a hobby to me but, it is very costly. With your help and support it can make buying the necessary items that go into making my videos. Down to the simplest of things like drum sticks. Because I am not fortunate enough to be sponsored by any company. It all comes out of my pocket. Along with those simple items, with your help and support, It can help me buy other things to make my product get better. That would include stuff like: better mics for my drums, so they can sound better to the viewer. Mics are just the beginning tho, sadly. With good mics would come a mixer, stands, chords and maybe an actual program to edit my recordings in. That would also most likely include a new laptop and/or a new soundcard. Crazy stuff.

Other than those more "advanced" items are still the other simple stuff like: drum heads (top and bottom for: snares, rack toms, floor toms and even for the bass drum). There's even stuff like tape,
felts for cymbal stands, memory cards for my digital camera, programs and software to edit not just the audio but video as well. Who knows, if i'm lucky enough some new cymbals which are pretty costly. Again, I have no endorsement so those are almost out of reach. The ones I have at the moment are hanging on by a moment! If you've seen my videos, you can see the nice cracks they've acquired over the years. I'm surprised they're still just barely playable!
There's also lighting equipment. As most of my light source is literally the sun. There's a window i play next to, and if I miss my window, so to speak, I lose my light. I do have work lights that I bought but they aren't the greatest source of light. Better than clouds tho!
I have two digital cameras I currently use. Hopefully I can maybe add another or two to give a better visual experience. Attention spans are short these days! This would also include replacement batteries for my cameras as one is already starting to show signs of dying. It doesn't record as long as it used to. Speaking of batteries, even my headphones run on batteries! So. Many. Things. Now that I'm making this list, it's even overwhelming me! Crazy!

I try to make videos as often as i can and they are pretty time consuming. i'm still very new to this so, i am pretty much just wingin it. i could possibly get a new laptop touse just for my covers, because the files take up a LOT of memory. I share this laptop with my fiance, and in case it crashes, i'd just lose any of my stuff and not both of ours. And yes, I am getting married so money is a very tight issue, even more so now since i really don't make that much at all. YouTube is very hard to make profit off of. Due to copyrights and other issues. Video blockage, ad blockage, and the fact that my views are very little in the grand scheme of things. Most who make decent profit off their videos get WAY more views than I do. Which is cool with me, but i'd love to make some sort of "living" off of something I LOVE doing. I'm not the best at what i do, but it is the one thing i want to do for as long as i can.
With your help, i can keep this going and it won't seem so "pointless". Not that it's pointless but, to be able to say it pays off is better than the alternative :)

I know there are supposed to be incentives to donations and i will have to figure that out. If you
have any requests or ideas for some incentives, let me know! You can tweet at me (@Ray_FooL) or hit me up on my facebook page at (facebook.com/RayFooLOfficial).

i am a terrible teacher. i never had any lessons of any kind so for me to teach would be kind of a task, but i can try if need be. I figure, I learn better by watching and doing, so I can "show" you how
to play certain songs. Especially if it's a Green Day song since those are my "specialty", others i pretty much learn as i go :)

I'm not very good at reading music. I can "get by" but not by much. I "learn" and play all by ear. I can probably show you somehow how i make my videos, what programs I use, and the steps i take. I can probably offer videos or mp3s of my stuff. i know it's not much but, it's all i got at the moment :)
I'll even sign a napkin or something if that's what you want!

I just really want to make better content. Not just for me, but for anyone who is awesome enough to check out my stuff. I'd like to make it worth the time.  I only have so many subs but, i try to keep in touch with them as much as possible. I like the interaction. I like the community that i'm apart of. I see lots of negativity on YouTube, and the internet in general, and i'd like to be the opposite of that. i'm all about support and try as hard as i can to be social and interactive on here. If..and I stress IF i ever get more subs and it gets "out of hand" I will still do all i can. after all,  it's the kind words of the subs and viewers i have that make me love doing this so much more. i never thought i'd get the reactions and compliments I've been lucky enough to get. I just figured, hey, i have drums, i love playing them, i don't have a band, i like to play to music i listen to, i see other people are doing it, why not give it a shot!? And I have to say, it's been above ANYTHING I've ever expected. Every sub to me is just as awesome as the first. Since i never thought i'd ever pass 10! and i'm not just saying that.

With all the drummers i've seen on YouTube, how amazing they are, and the quality they provide, i never thought i'd compete with them. But, i'm starting to think i'd like to give that a shot! That's where you come in! Any help i'd be fortunate enough to get would mean so much to me. It might help me help out others too! It's all about support! So hopefully this is the start of
something truly amazing and awesome!

Let's get rockin'!

Last Words

Well, as I said, my videos are free, naturally. I'm not charging anyone anything, this is just a shot in the dark. Even if I make just $1, I'm ok with that. The support I've gotten from people I've never met means a lot to me, and is still very surprising. I get more support from "strangers" than I do from most of the people I actually know! So, if you can donate, or are willing to donate, literally ANY amount is acceptable. I'm not greedy. Even if you can't donate for any reason, that's ok too! Because I'll still be able to make my little covers. I'm just grateful for any sign of support. So, either way, thank you for even maybe, possibly thinking about it!

(for the moment) I have yet to figure out a good way of giving out incentives. remember, I'm new around here!
They may be subject to change if I can think of better incentives. Please, bear with me :)
Goals
$0 of $1 per month
