About Mrs. Davenport

Hi! Thanks for thinking about me and my Real Sweet Potato Pie phase of life! It may not be what you think (or it just might!)

Do you know what they mean by our “cultural lens?” The way we perceive life, beauty, unrest, fantasy, reality?

Well, my "Cultural Lens" is all polished and ready to go! (Actually, it’s ever evolving, as it should be, but you know.)

I draw, I write, I bake old-fashioned sweet potato pie and some innovative new twists on that traditional Southern African-American dessert.

Cultural commentary (on any and all cultures, because we’re ALL human first!) and generational changes and common threads between the generations - these all come out in my ever-growing body of work.

I’d love for you to join me! Embark on this phase of my journey. Benefit and benefit. It would be my thrill and honor.

I'm also a Black and Native Woman Ivy Leaguer with HBCU roots, seven children and three grandchildren (with one more on the way), a committed marriage going on three decades to a Beautiful Black Man from St. Louis (yes), and 100s and 100s of school children of all races who know my name. I've been called Eclectic, Eccentric and Emotional. I'm all of the and a bag of chips. Literally. BTW, Send me some. Thanks!)
