Hi, I'm Richard. If you know me, there's a good chance it's because of my work within the art & sketch card field on licensed properties such as Marvel Comics, DC Comics, X-Files, and The Hobbit, among others; or for the many commissions I've completed over the years for private clients.

There's less of a chance that you know me for my web comic adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs' A Princess of Mars, with the talented Thomas Boatwright on colors. It's been a labor of love and you should really go check it out from the beginning. For those who found it, it became something they really enjoyed:
Unfortunately, after well over a year of consistent regular updates and gaining a dedicated readership, A Princess of Mars had to be put on hold. As you know, free web comics do not pay the bills, and while Tom and I worked to make room in our schedules between the paying jobs to just get out what we could, eventually it came down to the harsh reality of economics.

The thing is, I want to create comics that are fun and adventurous and make you smile. I want my web comics to be the paying work, and the sketch cards to be the sideline. So let's bring John Carter back - for starters.
Then we'll bring him back more often, and we'll finish Chapter 2, and then we'll move on to Chapter 3 and keep going until the book is finished. And then we can finish the trilogy, together.
And that's just the beginning. At higher milestones we get to the really awesome stuff. Because not only do I want to make web comics, I want to make my own web comics, web comics for you, that you will enjoy. And I have this little thing I call Highjump.

Highjump is something more than an idea and something less than a finished long-form comic work. The short, spoiler-free pitch is that our main character is a 1940s pulp heroine fighting Nazis, and robots, and mad scientists, and femme fatales. Maybe Nazi femme fatales with robots. Because you never know. I've gotten the entire prelude story - all 12ish pages - plotted and thumbnailed. I have the entire first arc - graphic novel in length- plotted out. I have Thomas onboard for the same luscious colors. I just have to get to the point where it's economically feasible for me to start working on it. And again, that's where you come in. Did I mention there are aliens and Lovecraftian beasts? Because there are. And femme fatales!

"thank you for making a true adaptation of this wonderful story and not watering it down and making it ‘safe and nudity free’ like most other lame adaptations have."
"The art here is bold, lovely, and unafraid."
"The artwork for this is really beautiful, and really does the series justice."
