WELCOME!
It's great that you've stopped by! Fight for Freedom! is a game featuring life-like assets inspired by GI Joe toys from the '80s and '90s, to be used in combat-style game play. Stay a while, read some free public posts, and check out the images and videos to get more info on what it's all about! Patrons have access to even more posts and exclusive first looks at progress images and videos. This is an on-going development mod, which relies on donations to keep it going.

QUICK TAKE
By contributing to Fight For Freedom! (<< link to mod on Steam), you become part of a community that benefits from the following:
  • Making It Count - Supporting the ongoing development of realistic combat game assets inspired by our favorite action figures.
  • Public Service - Knowing you had a part in making TONS and TONNES (for the Brits, etc.) of fans' dreams come true, including yours!
  • Exclusive First Looks! - The excitement of seeing what assets are coming next, and how they're shaping up.
  • Showing Appreciation - Knowing you are supporting a US Army veteran, hard at work making these models, and his family (wife and two kids).
  • Input - I value and welcome your opinions, knowledge, and experience, and sometimes I even request them through polls and personal interactions. In this way, patrons can help shape this game.
  • Low Budget Donations - My monthly donation tiers are set up at low levels, $1 to $10, and the most populated tier group is $2 - cheaper than a single big chain coffee. The $5 and $10 tiers are for extreme enthusiasts and the habitually generous.

ELABORATION
Creating game assets inspired by GI Joe toys from the '80s and '90s is my main focus. This content includes vehicles, characters, uniforms, gear, equipment, weapons, and structures. So far, the majority of production has been in vehicles, and many are even in working stages within the game (working, but still under development). I have made a couple of helmets working in-game, but there are many other helmets, gear, uniforms, and vehicles in various stages of completion.

My short-term goal is to gather enough Rooster3D patrons, Freedom Fighters, to fund producing the 3-D game content at a more dedicated pace. The more patrons subscribe, the more people I can hire to help, including artists, programmers, video editors, foley artists, actors, and testers. The more people on the project, the better and faster we can build this game!

Arma 3, with its military setting, serves as a great foundation for a GI Joe-inspired game, for the time being. If you are not exactly a fan of GI Joe, don't worry! The assets in this mod are unique to any game, and they have been refined or reimagined for more realistic functions than what you may have expected based on the toy specs, comics, and cartoons. The result will provide gamers with alternative tactics to bring to the fight. Non-fans of GI Joe can take comfort that this mod will be a viable, realistic alternative to the Arma 3 scenarios and will blend nicely with even the best mods.

The game mod currently utilizes Real Virtuosity, Arma 3's game engine. An early Alpha Release, or preview version of the game, can be accessed on Steam here: Fight For Freedom! Due to some limitations in RV/A3, a game engine change may be in order. If the project becomes a full-fledged, AAA stand-alone title, then a couple of things will occur. First, it will require a price tag to pay for the huge amount of people involved. Second, it will most likely move away from the Real Virtuosity engine to something more up-to-date, more reliable, and easier to work with - perhaps Unreal Engine 4.

Because patrons are donating to the current version, which is in a very early Alpha Release phase, and because there is the hope to switch to a more capable engine, I am keeping the main donation tiers low - $1 to $2. As stated earlier, one month of donating is (typically) cheaper than a single big chain coffee.

ROOSTER3D, ETC.
Throughout my pre-Army career, I had been a Web Graphic Artist, specializing in Flash Animation and Web Design. To distinguish my 3-D artwork from my mostly digital 2-D career work, I started producing models under the name Rooster3D. Using 3D Studio Max for 3-D model sculpting, I create vehicles, characters, props, weapons, and structures from scratch for real-time applications such as video games. I have created assets for Unreal Tournament 2004, Battlefield 2, Crysis/Crysis Wars/Crysis 2, and ArmA 3. Having a crazy-eyed 2-D logo representing my 3-D artwork is a bit ironic, but it's mostly because I haven't taken time to make a 3-D version of it, yet.

During my time in the Army as a Signal Support Systems Specialist (25U), I sometimes continued artwork on the side under the name Crypto Phil. It's a play on words of "CRYPTO FILL," which is stamped on military radio equipment to label ports requiring a separate device to "fill" the encryption data and thus provide comms security. I further used this tag in Rock Band games, naming my in-game band "Crypto Phil and the Freqs."

ABOUT ME
Currently, I am a stay at home dad of two girls, and I have managed to develop a routine giving me pockets of time for my artwork. My goal is to raise a little bit of extra income to help take care of the bills and provide for them. We are not a charity case, though, and my wife makes a good enough salary to provide. This is more of a personal thing for me, as a man, to make sure she doesn't feel like she is shouldering the entire financial burden of the family.

As a veteran of the US Army Reserves, I have real-life training and experiences to pull from when developing these military assets. This gives me a certain credibility, and you can expect these fictional vehicles and gear to have roots in reality, aiming towards plausibility. Finding the balance between sci-fi, mil-fi, and real life can be an elusive target, but I hope to develop unique vehicles and technological devices that are at least believable in a more practical sense.

By becoming a patron to my project, you are supporting a God-loving family man and veteran working to provide a little extra income for his family. I value my patrons, fans, and followers across all platforms, and I want to provide the best for them. As a fan of GI Joe and other combat action figures myself, I aspire to make content that's entertaining, useful, fun, informative, interesting, and unique. Mostly, I hope to build a unique experience that ultimately unites people far and wide in a fun, immersive setting!

God bless you, and may this endeavor bring Him glory. Believers in Jesus Christ, like myself, are called to be out in the world bringing His Word to everyone, and war and gaming are no exception (though they're not for every Christian). I pray that He works through me and this project to reach precious souls like you, and may this be the primary reason for moving forward. So it is.

Habit Breakers
$5 or more per month

You scoff at the lower tiers, feeling slightly insulted at their low level challenge to the muscle of your generosity. You are confident you'll barely miss the $5, and rest easy knowing it will help in speeding up the production of the game. The best thing about donating at this level is for those who want to cut back on their monthly caffeine intake; this will save an individual one typical trip to Starbucks.

One-Timer
$10 or more per month

So, you probably played the Alpha Release of the mod, and you want to donate, but you're not stoked about going monthly. I get it. This tier is tailored to you, kind of (see below).

Note: Patreon does not supply the option for me to offer monthly AND one-time donations. For most subscribers, they prefer the monthly. Once Patreon has billed your account, be sure to cancel the subscription. If this is too much a hassle for your liking, then consider a monthly plan at a lower rate. :-)

Goals
9 of 1500 patrons
The first step is to build our community. Support and donations make this happen, and at a mere $2/mo from 1500 patrons this project can double the pace of its past peak performances.
