Hi and welcome to my Patreon. It’s fair to say that for me, this is all very new and shiny even though the idea of patrons of the arts is most certainly not. Because of that, I’m pretty open to trying new stuff here and seeing what sticks.

So, who am I? Well, I’m the American husband of a British wife, and the father of 2 kids and 6 cats. In 2018 I published my first book, Magic’s Genesis: The Grey. In January 2019, Magic’s Genesis: Sword of Wilmamen appeared, and I’m about half-way through Magic’s Genesis: Reckoning. As I type this books 4-6 are percolating in my greying skull.

All this writing started the way these things do – for pizza. I joined the US Air Force out of high school and was accepted into the job of a public affairs specialist – a military journalist. I was pretty good at it too – somewhere in my house is a box of writing awards for news, features, sports, stories etc. I became a PA officer in 2001 and retired in 2012 after 25+ years in uniform.

So here I am today with a 9-5 job and working as an indie author. I started attending comic conventions in 2019 to get my books out there, and I jumped into the world of Patreon to see if it’s as much fun as it looks.

What will you get? I mean, other than that glow that comes from helping someone work to achieve their calling? Well, I’ve been giving this some thought and figured the best way to make the best use of my time and your cash is to give you something different.

I’m going full random generator. At least once a month, I’m going to use random generators – names, places, conflicts, plot lines, etc., and give myself one hour to produce a short story. Each will be as different as the generators. That’s for starters. Let’s see what we can do when we get going. As ever, I’d love to hear your suggestions.

Cheers

Bread and Butter
$1 or more per month

Each month I will produce at least 1 original story based on names, events, plots etc., taken from random generators found on the internet - all stories will be written in an hour. For your dollar, you get to read these ... works, I guess you could call them.

Cat Nip
$5 or more per month

Of course you'll get to read the stories, but you'll also get a monthly letter and photo from one of my six (yes, 6) cats - sent to your email, so don't forget to leave me your email address.

Fish & Chips
$15 or more per month

I’m going to let you pick the random items for a story. You pick the names of the characters, the dilemma they face, the setting, the genre - I'll send you a list. This is your chance to get trippy with fiction.

Steak and Eggs
$25 or more per month

You've read the story, you've gotten a letter from one of my cats (and thought to yourself, maybe you should sponsor the cat), and now you can read my long form books - I will supply you with a Kindle code to download one of my books - there are only 2 as of Feb 2019 but book three should be out in summer.

Chocolate
$50 or more per month

I love you. I really do. And because I love you, I have to ask, because I’m concerned, why are you giving me fifty bucks a month? Don’t get me wrong, I dig that you’re doing it and I hope you do it for years - cat food ain't cheap, neither is sending two kids to college. So, what do I give back to someone who is dropping a Grant every month? I'm going to put your name in the acknowledgements of my next book and send you a signed paperback copy of that book.

Beer and snacks
$150 or more per month

As much as I loved the person throwing Grants around, you had my attention at Benjamin. For your efforts, you’ll get an 11x14 print of one of the characters (your choice) from the 30 Stones Saga. You are now supporting my work and the work of an artist. Look at you, patron of the arts, plural!

Single Malt Scotch
$250 or more per month only 2 left

You look fabulous, and those abs, my goodness you must work out 10 hours a day. For this kind of scratch I will let you name a character in my next book – (within reason considering the types of stories (Fantasy) I write. Ie: Wizard McWizardface is not going to happen. No profanity or other unpleasantness. We’ll work it out together. Whether it's a main character or a small character depends on the needs of the book.)
