What is Rotten Raven Studios?
Rotten Raven Studios is a small young YouTube channel that is dedicated to research present and narrate  everything creepy and mysterious in this world. Additionally you will find creepy horror stories narrated in a radio play style. All out of our own production. No third party content on this one.
You may think now "Not another reading channel" and you'd be right. Rotten Raven Studios is not another reading channel.

What makes it special?

The channel and everything within it focuses on one thing. Immersion. You will not find a monotone narrative and stock music playing in the background all the time. Rotten Raven Studios delivers immersive sounds and ambience fitting the story in german and english language alike with most natural narration.
In future it is planned to add fully individually voiced characters.

Is there an upload schedule?
Unfortunately there will be no upload schedule at the momentary state of things. Rotten Raven Studios is a one man project. I am a single man with a family that researches the creepy cases, writes the horror stories, translates them, does the sound engineering and everything else. Spare time is sometimes scarce and since I am a perfectionist I tend to take my time making sure to make the best out of my abilities. Writing an immersive and thrilling horror story is no easy task and researching the creepy cases in immersive enough detail to make it special is nothing to be done in just a couple of hours, so I want to be honest with you and not promise any schedule i might not be able to keep.

What does patreon cover at the moment?
Since I am not protected by fair use and even worse, the European Union starts to make my life as a researcher and Content Creator even harder, I need to earn the rights to publish copyrighted material even with changes by paying cold hard cash. Your money helps directly financing the less than unlucky copyright-situation I am exposed to. But this helps not only with getting first hand materials linked to cases, it also helps to be on the safe side of law, so that the danger of getting into any legal trouble is next to none.

What will this patreon cover in the future?

This channel self is ambitious. I already invested in some audio gear but there is of course always room for improvement like soundproofing or sound-insulation.
If the channel becomes sustainable enough I want to add to the content and the immersion by the help of illustrators.
In the end I would like first person video footage to accompany the narration and help the immersion, so that we may come to the point of a narrated first-person short movie series.
At the moment all I have is my writing, narration and sound engineering skills, and the wish to make more out of the channels potential.
The Sound effects are either from various freeware platforms or sometime even self made. I take the little I have and try to make the best of it with every new upload trying to surpass the quality of my former projects. This includes the story, sound and in overall quality of the immersion offered.

Will there be rewards?

Again, the short answer is no. Like in gaming, no one wants content to be blocked by a paywall. I don't want to withheld any content from people just because they are not supporting me financially. All my content will be available to anyone who wants to access it without exceptions.
The nature of the channels content brings an opportunity with it, that could be served as a reward. I feel like I should address this opportunity and everything that follows as well.
Sure enough, there could be the option to let my patrons lend their voices to characters in the narrated stories. And since I will always be in need of voices, this might sound like a win-win-situation. Nevertheless this will bring some problems as well.
First, not everyone might be keen on doing some voice acting or someone could be unsatisfied with the amount of voice acting one got in a particular episode. So this option might not be even suitable for all.
Second, as you already read, I am a perfectionist. If I need the voice of an old man, I would not use a young voice actor that portrays an old man just by lowering his voice. To be as immersive as possible, I just want to get the most genuine voices for each role.
Third and most importantly, with this option, we would enter early-access and spoiler territory. This would contradict my feelings about the aforementioned paywall-situation. Anyone keen on lending his/her voice to one of my characters or monsters shall have the same chance.

Why should one become a patron?
I let my content speak for itself.
You decide whether or not the channels content is worth your support and it certainly is your money. If you decide to become a patron I love you for that. If you decide to support the channel in other ways I love you for that too. If you think the content is not worth your money - well i can't say I love you for that, but I take it as motivation to improve on my content. You have absolutely no obligation for you to spend it on the channel. All I can say is if you enjoy the channels content, the style or want to see it improve you are always welcome to consider becoming a patron or helping the channel out in other ways.

Sweet nightmares.
