GreetingsHello, I am Sean Kelly, a freelance film writer and critic based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I have been writing about film since August 2004 and it is something I really love doing. I put in hours of hard work writing about film, which includes covering various film festivals as accredited media. Since writing about film has essentially become my primary career, I would like to be rewarded for my efforts. As such, I ask you to become a patron so I can keep doing the work I love.
My FocusAs I am based in the Toronto, Ontario, Canada, the residents of that city are my primary focus. In addition to reviewing weekly theatrical releases, I cover film festivals that happen throughout the year in the city. This includes the Toronto International Film Festival, the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival, and the Toronto After Dark Film Festival. In recent years, I have expanded my festival coverage to include the Fantasia International Film Festival that occurs every summer in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Where You Can Find My Writing?Sean Kelly on Movies - My primary outlet, where I have been writing thoughts and commentary on the world of film since 2004.
Toronto Film Scene - Online film magazine I was a contributor to from 2013-2017. The magazine is now discontinued, but archive is still currently online.
More examples of my writing can be found on the portfolio section of my site.
Why Do I Need Your Money?Writing about film has been a major passion for me for nearly 14 years now. However, it is not something that I can easily earn a living doing. I see most movies out of my own pocket and I have never really had the funds to truly grow Sean Kelly on Movies as a site.
All I ask of you is to give between $1 and $5 a month, which will go awards both offsetting my monthly costs. Reference my goals to get an idea where exactly the money you give will be going.
