Stay in touch, because we'll be telling you some of our secrets.
Every month I'll send at least one update telling you what we're working on, and info posts on perfumery materials.

If you're interested in the way our indie perfumery works, don't especially want to make your own scents, but would like to know about offers and classes, this is the place. You're welcome to stay for £1 a month (or whatever that translates into) + VAT (new rules) this is the place for you.
If you would like to pledge more than £1 a month, that's fine too, thank you.

Small Surprises - UK

Every four months a small packet of four* fragrances will turn up at your address. You'll be sharing my creative process, and you will be able to vote on which ones we bring out the following year.
These will be 2ml atomisers.

For the moment, this is UK only as the shipping situation out of the UK to the EU is difficult right now, and the US and the rest of the world are realy expensive as perufme is classed as dangerous goods. We're working on it!

You will also have:
  • our monthly update
  • an online Q&A post here
  • a Zoom talk on the month's featured fragrance style
  • discounts on the Scenthusiasm fragrances I bring out
  • extras that we've not yet imagined
*Possibly more than four, but let's not overpromise.

A basic artisan perfume class spread over 12 months.
Each month we work on a fragrance together.

You will have a formula from Sarah to start with, so you can make that one to follow the process and understand the creative process.
We'll have a Zoom class to talk through the fragrance and materials used.

Our back catalogue of videos on artisan perfumery is yours to watch from the moment you sign up. We'll be adding to these during the year.

There will be discounts on upcoming live courses and our materials kits, as long as we can ship them to wherever you are.

Q&A posts in which you can ask questions about perfume making, and exchange knowledge and ideas with like-minded perfumer makers.

Join in, meet other perfume makers who share your interests.

About Scenthusiasm by Sarah McCartney

Since 2010 I've been making scents. At my small  perfumery, 4160Tuesdays, we do everything by hand from developing the formulas to making the finished batches, bottling, wrapping and shipping around the world. I'm an artisan perfumer, a fragrance creator who enjoys exploring aromas and weaving them into unexplored olfactory pathways.

If you're reading this you're almost certainly fascinated by fragrance, whether it's wearing them, understanding their creation or making your own.

I love to make fragrances which capture a time and place, real or imaginary. Some are to wear, others create an atmosphere within a space: I've scented an oratorio, a one-woman show, VR environments and multi-sensory dance performances, created the aroma of fresh laundry for Samsung and the scent of the seaside for Google.

I also help people to create their own fragrances. Since 2013 we've had over 1200 people visit our workshop to make scents, plus 100 in Tokyo, 300 in festival tents, 350 in UK branches of The Botanist and another 400 at private events. I make perfume for new and growing brands, including Misc Goods Co., Zoologist, Sarah Baker Perfumes and Vaunt, and large ones including also include Hyundai, Peroni and The Glenlivet.

In 2019 I set up here on Patreon to share news about my new fragrances, formulas for perfume makers to use, methods and materials with as wide as audience as I can reach, in an accessible way.

Then of course in 2020 everything changed. All our live workshops were cancelled, so I spent several months rewriting them so they could run online, with workbooks and Zoom classes. I'm still rationalising three three places I have uploaded perfume making classes: here, for a regular update and new tasks, for short courses, and for self study.

There are options to test new fragrances too, as part of our scented expedition here. Please do send a message or comment on a post if you have things to ask or say, and I hope you'll enjoy being part of our updated Scenthusiasm community.

When our group is at 100, we'll have two updates a month, as this will give us the breathing space to create more ways of sharing.
