About
Jacklyn: I think creating is one of the coolest things that humans can do. The fact that we can think of things and then make them a reality whether it is a story, video, song, building, space ship, or whatever is mind blowingly awesome. I love making stuff and supporting other creators.

Bobby Halick You should enable ads and give the revenue to your cause!

Smarter Every Day I'd be game for that. Are you talking about on YouTube or on Patreon? How do people feel about this?

Bobby Halick On YouTube, like just leave on the trueview ads and keep track of the revenue it gains in the next couple weeks :D

N-J Gilbert-Redman It makes a lot of sense to monetize the videos to raise more money for the kids in a secondary way.

How they can sell gift cards, laptops, cameras, and all kinds of goodies that we all want for 50-90% off, I don’t know I do know that I bought my son an ipad there for less than $100 and my husband a $250 Low gift cards for $48. joseph purrazzella So the whitening of the pigment at each laser pulse is only temporary? If there weren't white blood cells to remove the pigment the color would come back?
October 30, 2014 18:22:39 · Reply
Ryan Lidster I think (but I'm by no means sure) that the whitening is actually just the epidermis responding to the laser, and that the pigment underneath is still present but made less visible temporarily. Perhaps Dustin or Dr. Labbert can help clarify that.

Alex Southwell (Me = Not Doctor) I would think that both would be happening, the epidermis would be swollen and discolored in a way that would make it more opaque, but also the breaking up of the ink particles would make them less pronounced or look faded.

SciJoy Sometimes I worried that being an engineering would take the magic out of how things work. But really I feel like a lot of times it just points out how freaking difficult things are and how incredible and beautiful it is that we've figured this stuff out. I guess musicians, artists, dancers, and such are the same way. I'd watch a dance and be like "that was nice." And a dancer would be like, "that was so difficult, but they made it seem effortless. That is why it was beautiful."

Jim Battle Jacklyn, you should listen to this excerpt of an interview with probably the most famous U.S. physicist, and all around character, Richard Feynman. It has been set to some beautify scenery, but focus on what he is saying. http://www.wimp.com/feynmanbeauty/

Paul Spooner Amazing! I always wondered how nematocyst's worked. The diagrams never seemed to explain it properly, but the high speed video is much more helpful. Looks like several of the tubes bounce off the adjacent tentacle. Very interesting!

Afrotechmods Very cool! Would love to have played with the electrical trigger. Different currents, electric field strengths or maybe different concentrations of Na or K ions in the surrounding fluid may have different effects.
