Hello ladies and gentlemen, you may be asking yourself, who's this dude?

My name is Michael Boisson and my online alias every where is Shaostoul. Allow me to first apologize for the wall of text but, there's a lot of information that needs to be put down because, there's a lot that's going on here. It's not just simple artwork being made, there's a lot of community stuff and other events going on that make this so much more than just an "artists Patreon".

I'm a long time gamer and modder having started way back on my Dad's old Amiga 500 with BattleTech: Crescent Hawk's Inception and Elite: Frontier II.

I've modded many games since then, such as Warcraft 3, Freelancer, Borderlands, Dwarf Fortress, Morrowind, Space Engineers, and Fallout 4. Lately I've primarily been modding the game Space Engineers and have been since 2014.

I began educating and mentoring others how to mod since Warcraft 3 but, I didn't start creating tutorials and such until Dwarf Fortress around 2010. I then moved to Space Engineers around 2014 and that's when I got the request to create a method for people to donate to me.

Patreon has made that an easier experience as long as I can remember to keep posting updates here! I have a Discord server where we (the community and I) discuss modding and we've actually begun working on our own game in Unity! It's a slow process right now because, we're working on figuring out funding so I can pay people for their work but, our ultimate goal right now is to get something to the Kickstarter. More on that below.

The community continues to grow and it continues to surprise me how much so. We're over 100 members now on Discord and the bigger it gets, the more we can do! I'd say the best accomplishments I've had so far are receiving heart felt thank yous from individuals that went to college and became professionals in the field thanks to what I've done for them. I can't wait to see it grow bigger and what else we can accomplish (the game we're working on is one such example).

As you can see in the video on my profile, I went to Emerald City Comic Con as well and we're planning on going again and to other conventions assuming we can get the financial support. Going to conventions to spread the word is expensive, costing easily a couple thousand dollars for even one individual, even more if we have to pay rent for the space we use to spread the word of video game modding.

It's grown so much since this whole thing started and has been such an enlightening and rewarding experience that I truly hope that it can continue to grow further to help even more people. As we continue to grow, we're trying to figure out how best to give back to the community. More on that below.

Unfortunately in July of 2016 I started dealing with an illness called Chron's Disease and it has caused havoc for someone in my position. My income presently is purely this Patreon, which is why I let you see how much I'm making. I want you to know how much you the community are providing and  what that money is going towards. We're getting close to affording our first server for some game and right now it's between a Minecraft or Space Engineers server. As we get more support, I can end up getting more and more servers so, that people don't have to pay for those things that can't afford it.

I'm going to go ahead and try to answer some simple questions right off the bat and if you have any further questions feel free to shoot me a message! I'm totally open to talking to anyone.

Project Universe
Take a game like Battlefield 2142 with all the futuristic ground combat, remove the match-making system, add in MMO elements (large player base in a single game and persistent world), add in a different setting/story, and you nearly have what the plan is. Giant mech battles, space ship battles (eventually), however crafting is not on the list until much later. We're focusing on a combat game and using story elements to drive the development.

If you're interested in more details, there's a Google Doc which covers a lot of the information. If you're wanting to follow the development and concept art, check out the Discord channel. I'm not the single creator for concept art, so there's no way I think I could keep you all up to date on what's being made and presented.

Our community is presently working on the game using the Unity engine as a base. We presently have several artists creating random content for the game but, we're lacking programmers. Through my Disability support or through Patreon, once we raise enough, I'll be able to pay people to work on stuff specifically for the game.

If you know anyone or are personally interested in helping out with the game, feel free to shoot me a message on here or Discord and we'll find out where you'll be able to help!

Twitch Live-Stream
I presently can not live-stream, this is due to the very poor internet where I presently live. For me to get fast enough internet to live-stream I have to move. Where I live is expensive but, I'm limited in where I can move due to my health. This is going to happen one of two ways presently, I either get enough support from the community financially to move or I get approved for Disability for my Crohn's to be able to afford getting a place. It appears the Disability is going to happen first as I've been barely able to work on what's been requested of me. Once I begin live-streaming and once I start making enough from that to own my own place, then I can start  putting money towards the community and/or the game we're developing. You can get to my Twitch account here.

YouTube Videos
I still make YouTube videos but, much more rarely now. This is for two reasons, the first is that it takes a lot of effort to make a quality tutorial video that is great for noobies to watch and that YouTube is so messed up right now for ad revenue that it's not a financially viable way to live right now without sponsors. For YouTube videos, I focus purely on what my patrons are asking of me. It might take a long while due to the large amount of work on my plate but, they'll get done. The benefit to YouTube is that I can make educational videos in a controlled environment that I can then link to people to answer their questions. You can get to my YouTube account here.

Supporters (Patreon, YouTube, and Twitch)
Presently supporters don't get much but, I do give them as much attention as I can within my Discord community. If there's something modding related they need help with, I spend all the time they need to get the problem sorted. As we raise more money through you guys, we'll be able to provide more benefits such as game servers and possibly free software to people helping out with the projects. All of my content presently is public and will remain so as to try to draw traffic and more support for doing more of this stuff. I'm actively modding Space Engineers and creating educational content for it. The content I create is heavily influenced by requests from my supporters.

Discord and Live-Chat
As some of you may be aware, a lot of the support I provide is done via live-chat one way or another, most commonly on Discord. There is a Discord server that allows for a much more structured environment as the community grows, which is very important. As time and money permits, I'll be adding more benefits for subscribers to Discord as to reward them for their support. For now it's mostly just public but, there is a private chat area just for supporters.

Sponsors
As much as I'd prefer to not be a sell out, sponsorship opportunities may arise. As this may be mild inconvenience for some people, consider the following; it can provide a much more stable and reliable system for providing content, it could allow me to move to a new location, get faster internet, and reliably live-stream full-time. I already have many people demand I live-stream but, due to lack of funding and insufficient bandwidth available at my present location, live-streaming isn't happening.

Modding and education for Space Engineers
I'm actively modding the game and I have a thread of education material on the official KeenSWH forums, a Steam Workshop page of all of my mods for the game, as well as a YouTube channel containing my educational tutorial videos.

Modding for Fallout 4
I'm not presently modding the game but, I do have content on Nexus for PCs, a Bethesda.net page for the mod on PC and one for the mod on Xbox. I'm not presently doing any educational content for modding Fallout 4, as it has yet to be requested. This was put on the back burner as Chron's has severely limited what I can do and I have to focus on things that seem to be the most important. Lately it's been focusing on content suggested by supporters and by people on my Discord server.

Playing video games
I'm not presently playing video games often but, I'm searching for games I can play with my community and once I can get the financial support for servers, I'll begin hosting servers for those and then playing those games with the community. I'm open to suggestions to new video games but, money is incredibly tight presently so, my options are limited.
