About Muckleflugga Shorestation Unst- [email protected]

Situated on Britain’s most Northerly inhabited island the Muckleflugga Shorestation Studio has hosted a wide variety of artists from around the world over the last decade. With an emphasis on engagement with the island and the host community. Previous residencies have included a number of Dancers/Choreographers working in collaboration with the resident sculptor on site-specific work and performance. (Jack Webb, Elisabeth Schilling and Kathryn Spence.)

Residencies are facilitated by the resident sculptor who has been working and living at the Shorestation since 2005,as part of an embedded social art practice. Forming and dissolving a series of temporary collectives and linked projects, that engages with the urgencies of now; climate emergency, sustaining peripheral communities,re-learning the landscape and our relationship to it.

If you would like to be involved and support a Residency Opportunity, the development of the studio, allotments and development of ongoing Social Art projects on the island. ,please become a supporter of the project via Patreon. Volunteers are also needed to help with e peat cutting/treeplanting / maintenance/technical support.

The project operates on a ‘Dana economy ‘basis, to make it as accessible as possible ‘give what you can take what you need’
